RIU Palace Mexico August 2013 wedding

Is anyone else (or has anyone recently) getting married at the RIU Palace Mexico?  We booked our date - 8.8.13!!  But I haven't been able to get much information out of the hotel yet.

We already have 67 people confirmed (with deposits) so far.  We are expecting somewhere between 75-100.

I'm trying to figure out pricing for a private reception and if we are allowed to have a DJ at the restaurant/reception site itself.  I understand there is a dance club that you can use for the DJ, but we don't want to do that.  We want to have as close to a "normal" reception as possible with dancing and toasts throughout the evening.  Does anyone know if this is allowed?

Does anyone know how much a private reception is?

Does anyone know how much the DJ is?

Does anyone know how much a photographer is?  My understanding is that the hotel photographer will only do the ceremony but not the reception.

Thanks in advance for any information you have!

P.S. - I'm also looking for pictures from private receptions and the beach ceremony site, so if you are willing to share I would be very grateful!

Hi Liz,

I am also getting married at the Riu Palace Mexico.  Our date is February 14, 2013.  I have many of the same questions as you, and I am having a hard time finding any information or reviews about this resort.  I received an email from the resort today telling me which wedding manager will be looking after our wedding and that she will be in contact with me as soon as possible.  When I get some answers from her, I will pass them on to you.

Hi!

I'm getting married there 6/27/12 and haven't been able to find a lot of info specific to the Riu Palace Mexico but as things get closer and I have more information I'll be sure to pass it along.

We have about 20 people booked so far and expect about 50,

Are you getting married on the beach? That's where we are booked as for now though I know the gazebo is still available as of this week at our time (5pm) and I'm considering switching to the gazebo so it's a little more private, although my FI and I have both said we wanted to be married on the beach.

We are working with Lisa from Destinationweddings.com and she has been great. I haven't asked her anything about the reception yet though I am getting antsy about knowing the location, food and that sort of thing (bc I'm a bit of a planner though at the same time don't want to plan a wedding which is partly why we're doing destination!)

Please let me know if you find any pictures of ceremonies and receptions online because I'd love to see some.

Happy Planning

Karen

Mel,

Have you been given any more information yet?  I got some prices from our wedding planner, but they are 2012 prices.

Are you having a private reception?  I keep getting different price quotes, per person, for a private reception and its making it really hard to budget!

Have you seen the renovated rooms?  If you go to tripadvisor.com, to the RIU place Mexico page and search "renovated rooms" there are three pictures from other guests.  They are very modern and sleek looking.

Ecko,

Who are you working with from the hotel? Our wedding coordinator from destinationweddings.com emailed Paola before Thanksgiving requesting prices for the private reception and she emailed back to her telling us that Patrician Escalante is our coordinator and that she'd email us the info directly though we're still waiting. I'm going to email our DW coordinator again tonight to see if she's gotten anything or if she can email Patricia again and will let you know if we get 2013 pricing.

Can you PM the link for where to search for the Riu rooms on tripadvisor? I went to the sight but can't seem to find the search feature and would love to see what the rooms look like!

Thanks!

Patricia is our wedding coordinator as well.  I have 2012 prices that I can email to you, but no 2013 prices.  They told me to add 10% to the 2012 prices and that would be roughly the cost, but I don't believe anything until I see it in writing.  If you get prices I would really appreciate it you shared! :)

That is the link to the RIU palace mexico page on trip advisor.  Click traveler photos on the left of the screen.  A picture of the new room should be in the first 20 pictures.  Its a mostly white room.  purple bed spread on the end of the bed.

We booked a beach ceremony at 5pm, but I'm a little nervous about tripping over my dress while walking through the sand.  Have you given that any thought?  Maybe an isle runner would help.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
