We are seriously considering AzB for our 2014 wedding, but I have a few concerns. The beach looks really small. Has anyone seen the beach wedding setup? Secondly, has anyone traveled down for the dress rehearsal that they offer for $399/couple? Is it worth it?

We are considering doing the dress rehearsal visit to view the property. Has anyone done this? Is it worth it?

the Karisma Bride's Dress Rehearsal is totally worth it.  I just posted the link to all the perks you get by going.  The $500 food and beverage credit pays for the stay.

I had my hair done at the resort, I replied to your earlier post above about my experience. You can also see my hair in the video that Playa Weddings posted at the top of this page. I brought pictures of what I wanted it to look like, which I recommend, because the language barrier was challenging at times (unless you speak Spanish!). :-)

Feel free to browse my flickr account for pictures of where they do the weddings on the beach. I think those are at the very end. The beach is small, so if you're wanting a really wide beach area, far away from the resort, Azul is probably not the best choice. Our wedding was FANTASTIC, and I have no complaints about Azul Beach, so I certainly give it my endorsement!

We actually decided this morning that we are going to stick with Wright Travel Agency. I'm working with Babs and she's awesome! I honestly couldn't imagine working with someone so nice.

Just put in a request for our wedding to be Nov 11, 2013. Hopefully we get it. Anyone else having a November 2013 wedding?

I ended up asking Babs the questions I had above regarding the next step. Just waiting to hear back. Although if anyone has any input, it would be appreciated.

Very excited!

You will LOVE working with TA Babs!  She has a great relationship with Azul Hotels!  We were just there a couple of weeks ago. The resort is beautiful!  One of our faves!!

Regarding next steps:

1. If you are going to do a Karisma Bride's Dress Rehearsal, TA Babs will help schedule that for you.

2. If you are not going to do the Dress Rehearsal and just want to book your date, TA Babs can help you with that as well.  We usually get a quicker response from the resort.

3. Once your date has been confirmed, if you are doing a group block, we will request the contract and negotiate the amenities with the block.

4.. Once your date and time is booked, you will be assigned a wedding coordinator at the hotel to help with your wedding details.

I recently got into contact with two travel agents and they will be looking at pricing. When do you actually work with people at the resort to pick out details? Should I be calling someone there or is that the agent's job? I'm getting kind of anxious because I want to get the ball rolling and start picking out details. Any advice on how the steps should go would be greatly appreciated!

Whitney-

I got married at Azul Beach this past October, and it was PERFECT. You won't talk to the on-site coordinator's until you are actually on-site. You have a meeting with them prior to the wedding to go over every last detail. At this time, some adjustments can be made to your contract (add stuff, take stuff away). Once you actually book, you will receive a contract form that outlines all the details of your events (wedding, cocktail party, rehearsal dinner, etc.). Azul Beach contracts with the travel agency Lomas Travel, who will then assign you a wedding coordinator. They are based out of an office in Miami, and that is the person you will work with to plan all the many details. You work from the Lomas Travel website http://www.weddingsbylomastravel.com/ for many of the details, and use the Azul Beach "Private Events" web page to plan your menu(s) http://karismahotels.com/Portals/0/Files/Weddings/WeddingBanquetKit_0.pdf Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Your flickr account answered many of our questions regarding the site and some layouts.

If you don't mind me asking, did you consider any other resorts before deciding on AzB? Did you go down for a site preview?

The beach there is smaller than in some areas (they lost a lot of the beach a few years ago due to a hurricane). However the beach is beautiful, and the resort is stunning after being completely renovated about 2 years ago. The dress rehearsal is a great way for you to look at the property, taste the food, experience their fantastic service, and of course get away with your FI for a few days!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
