Beaches in Turks and Caicos closed indefinitely due to norovirus

So my coworker was supposed to leave Sunday for beaches in Turks and Caicos and the resort is closed indefinitely due to norovirus. No info on their website. She only heard about it from a friend who was there last week. They ended up being closed to try and get rid of this virus. I am only posting this to advise brides scheduled for their weddings because the resort is keeping it quite! I can't even Imagine what I would do! My heart goes out to all the brides grooms and their guests!

Please get your details straight before making random statements.  "Closed indefinitely?"  No, they re-opened on June 13th.  They also communicated with all of the travel agents concerning the norovirus.  I cannot imagine booking a place like Beaches Turks & Caicos without using a travel agent, so your friends should have been notified - they didn't find out by accident unless they booked on some online booking site thinking they were getting some kind of deal.  Let that be a lesson - USE A TRAVEL AGENT!  You don't pay more - and may even pay less!  Pam @ JP Travel

Please get your facts straight before posting invalid information.  The property re-opened on June 13th.  Beaches is not trying to keep anything a secret.  All travel agents were notified about the situation.  Did your co-worker book their honeymoon using an internet booking system thinking they were getting a 'deal'?  Let that be a lesson.  USE A TRAVEL AGENT!  You don't pay anything extra - in fact, you may get a better deal, plus you'd have someone to call with questions, and have someone to notify you if there was a problem.  Pam

I do have my facts straight! My coworker booked her family vacation thru Beaches directly! I felt horrible for her and her family as well as the brides who were affected. She contacted them having heard from someone who just returned that they just closed the resort. She was not notified and asked when she would have been. The Beaches rep she spoke with told her they were notifying guests as there reservations came up! Unacceptable. She was reassured the resort was reopening before her trip and in fact it did not. They scrambled and were able to book a vacation somewhere else! In fact she returned yesterday! Yes the resort did reopen and things do happen but there was very limited information and nothing on their website. I merely posted this to give people a heads up. I really don't appreciate your hostile response. If I was a bride with my wedding coming up I would have liked the heads up.

  • 4 weeks later...

Thanks for posting it for others to check out. People can do their own research to find out what is going on thanks to your post. Glad to hear the resort has opened back up though--how stressful! Pam I really think she was merely trying to help out other brides who may be going there not to stir up anything.

Everyone keep calm and marry on :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
