Newbie: Playacar Palace March 2013

Recommended Posts

Thanks to all for your advice! I'm considering PP for 11.2.13 - does anyone know how they handle reception costs? I will probably have 75 guests and we want to do a private dinner/dance reception. Any thoughts on costs per person for such an event? Also - what is available for a non-beach ceremony site? And finally, does anyone know how much they charge for outside vendors?

we were down there last month and it was beautiful. I've been dealing with my travel agent for details but I want to contact the wedding coordinator personally this week. her name is Wilma Zahoul.

Let me know what you find out were looking at 3.1.14 for our wedding. Were also in negotiations with Xcaret. Good luck

@ addy

The PP offers you a complimentary wedding ceremony and 2 hour reception if you have a total of 75 room nights booked.  We just had our site inspection this week, there are lots of great perks to staying here.  I found most all the info i needed off the Palace website and by starting emails with a wedding coordinator.

I also just posted my site inspection photos in galleries.

Hi Addy!  We're doing the unlimited private functions too (getting married on 9.1.2013) which is why we picked palace over the royal chain.  We've stayed at Playacar Palace twice and really liked it if you have any questions!  You're limited to 3 hours of private function/day (which winds up being a cocktail hour + 2 hour dinner).

Anyone know if it's possible to use the Italian restaurant for a brunch or lunch?  The sit-down places aren't open for non-dinner generally but thought it would be nice to do an event like that to give people a break from buffet food!

Also, in case it rains, if you have a larger group has anyone hear of what the backup plans are?

Thank you!!

Oh oops, my other post didn't go through!  Does anyone know if we can use the restaurants for brunch/lunch as part of our private receptions?  Would love to do something non-buffet for the guests one of the days but I can't get anyone from the hotel to answer my questions since I'm not 3 months out yet!  Can't wait though!

Hi Ladies!  I'm a newbie, but have been following these strings for a while now...they've been super helpful getting my feet wet, so thank you.  We'll be getting married at the Playacar Palace 10-4-13 and planning is well underway :)

AmandaPierson, you mentioned you went through a TA to lock in a group rate.  May I ask why you decided not to work with a wedding coordinator directly at the resort?  That's what we did (Elvia has been my contact) and now I'm wondering if we could have gotten a better deal elsewhere, eek!  Also, do you know if your party would still qualify for the unlimited private events if you exceed 75 room nights if you didn't go through the resort to hold the block?

I really appreciate your feedback,

Lea

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
