Yes, this is the best! My boyfriend and I started running in the morning about a month ago and although it was sort of dreadful waking up the first day it makes you feel pretty awesome all day and really boosts your confidence in your ability to stay on track. Unfortunately we're been totally slacking for 2 weeks because we've had company in town on and off  but we're going tonight after I get home from work.

I'm not personally a fan of the no or low carb thing because I like to focus on limiting my meat consumption, not eating any processed food, and eating lots and lots of fruits and veggies, particularly in my morning smoothie. But, best of luck to you all on your low carb journey!

Hey ladies just thought I would jump in with some motivation as I know I needed some when I started. My wedding is this Novemeber so I started working out and eating better low carb lots of fruit and veggies in Jan of this year it took awhile but I dropped about 8 lbs. I completed a cleanse last week which I dropped another 12 lbs from so total to date 20 lbs 10 more to go to hit my goal but now that I am eating clean feel better about my body and fit into my old clothes it should be easy sailing from here. Low carb is hard but stay with it it, tis worth it and gets much easier after awhile. I dont even grave carbs that much any more and when I do have some I make better choices in carbs such as whole grain and or much smaller portions. weight loss is hard and its a long struggle but well worth it for the feeling of being healthier menatally and physically.

That's awesome! I agree that eating low carb takes some getting used to, but you will find that you feel so much better!! What type of cleanse did you do?

Hey Meagan816. I did the master cleanse and it is def the hardest thing I have done since quitting smoking 3 years ago. Its is one of the longest running cleanses and comes with alot of controversy. 50% people support it and the other 50% say its the worst thing in the world, It comes down to your body and what your comfortable with. I too was one of those 50% that said I would never do it until my 65 year old Dad and my older sister did it they have been doing it now once a year for the last 3 years and love it. My dad worked out everyday while he was on it. So when my fiance suggested we do it I was more inclined. I discussed it with my doctor and he reassurred me I was getting the proper nutrients for the short amount of time I would be on it, I had already been eating really clean so I didnt have major food withdrawl and I had the extra support of my fiance. I hated the first 2 days but after that it was motivating to know I could accomplish something so hard for me and I feel great since completing the 10 days. It was hard especially with my busy work schedule but I woke up earlier made the sacrafices nothing is ever easy that is worth working towards and I love the results lost weight, feel great and light and have a new respect for what I put in my body. I am following the cleanse with continuing to eat clean, low carbs and 5 small meals a day portion control is the most crucial for me this is my downfall.

This thread is a great find! I started Ideal Protein diet in March, at first it went great, then I started cheating! I Love Carbs!!!! I've lost a total of 25lbs so far but have another 20 to go. I've only been losing 1/2 to 1 lb per week for the last two months. And have been doing cardio and weights for the past month.

Hey ladies!  Thanks for the thread and the motivation!!   I've been exercising since last year, but have not been watching what I've been eating AT ALL!  And I think that has TOTALLY been my problem... I haven't lost anything, and feeling VERY discouraged!  I was hoping to be down a size or 2 by now - my wedding is in like 7 months!

I live in Korea - so very rice heavy...  Makes dieting even more of a challenge!  But, I think cutting down on the carbs drastically is going to be what I need to do!

I'm going to keep an eye on this thread!  I love reading all of the suggestions!!

Thanks again!!

Hi Ladies,

Thanks so much for posting this thread here. My wedding is in November of 2013 and I realised that i need to really get going on my healthy lifestyle changes. My DD is 3.5 now and I had pretty much lost all my baby weight but I went through some stressful job stuff at the beginning of this year and gained a bit back....so now that I have started a new job that I love and have actually set a wedding date it is time to get healthy.

This is two fold because my FI and I really do enjoy eating out but it isn't good for our waistlines or our pocketbooks so we are making a conscious effort not to eat out as much....It isn't easy at all and I will be the first one to say that it doesn't help that I am not the best cook in the world(mostly I think it is because I don't have great organization in the kitchen so I am always missing ingredients and making a mess)

So anyways I am looking to lose about 25lbs before the wedding and I should be able to do that....IF I make the right lifestyle choices and really get my ass in gear when it comes to  eating healthier.

Anyways really excited to have some other brides that are looking to do the same thing!

Good Luck Ladies and Happy Planning!

Hey Ladies!!

Here's a bit of my back story, I love to cook and eat!!  I started eating clean about 6 months ago, and have always avoided packaged and processed foods, I make my own stuff.   I always tracked my food using my fitness pal and stuck to a 1200 CAL/ day diet.  I rarely (maybe 1x/month had juice or a caloric beverage, always sugar free/diet etc), I would have maybe 2 alcoholic drinks/week.  I never lost a pound, but I didn't gain either.   So then in February I hired a personal trainer, and met with her 2 x/week for 4 months (this was going from NO excersize to this), so a big adjustment, and while I did tone up and lose inches, I still never lost a pound.

Well, My dress has arrived and it's pretty snug (it fits, but I would much rather have lost 20 pounds to allow me to get it altered and feel better in it), so I needed drastic measures, I've gone onto the Dr Bernstien diet plan and they use specific products that are very low carb:  (they also give injections of Vitamins B6 and B12, along with potassium pills and multivitamins).

Breads/Tortilla's/Wraps:  Dr B permits 2 servings per day

La Tortilla Factory Smart & Delicious 100% low whole wheat wraps, 1 wrap = 1 serving.

Toufayan Low Carb Pita - 1/2 pita = 1 serving

Dempsters Body Wise Multigrain or Whole Wheat bread - 1/2 slice = 1 serving

Because of this I stick to the tortilla's or the pita (half) since I can use it to make a sammie or wrap at least.

Pasta's:

NO PASTA Except you can have unlimited amounts of:

Shirataki Noodles (I found them in a local diabetic food store) Miracle Noodle:  http://www.miraclenoodle.com/default.aspx

Low carb can be really tough, and Dr B is expensive, so not everyone can do it, but I'm definitely going to remember these products even for when I'm done.

And they also suggest cutting out carrots (high carb and sugar), banana's (super high sugar content) among other things.  I was surprised about those two restrictions for the weight loss portion of the diet and I used to eat a banana a day and a baggie of carrots a day as a snack. (oops!)

Now, looking at what I should be eating to lose weight, and what I used to eat to lose weight, I see where I went wrong.  For one, I had too much fruit and sugars almost every day, and second I was in one hell of a plateau.

Anyways, I'm not saying Dr B is the only way to go or anything, but they do have some good idea's about which products, and they are pretty adamant that not all tortilla's are the same so you have to buy the specific brand (found at grocery, health food, or diabetic food stores).

Good luck everyone!  I'll check back to let you know how I'm doing in a week!  So far it's been 3 days and I'm not hungry, or craving anything..

Kudos to you! Toning up and losing inches are the the two indicators that you should care about and pay attention to....The scale can be your worst enemy when your "trying to lose weight". If you're toning up and losing inches, it means that you're losing/burning fat and gaining lean muscle which is exactly what you want. Your just losing fat and gaining lean muscle at the same rate, hence why your weight is the same. Keep up the great work!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
