Engagement Party this year, Wedding in mexico next year

Recommended Posts

So our moms are thorwing us an engagement party in a few weeks and we are planning a wedding in February in mexico for 2013. i was going to get one of my friends of honor to walk around the party with a pad of wedding paper and ask guests to write their addresses down... just so i dont have to email them back and forth getting their addresses for the invitaions i want to send out in July...is that normal? what are your thoughts...

i also plan on giving away a little thank-you to all that attend the party, a tea bag in a small box with a little thank-you poem me and my fi. thats cute right?

we are deciding between El Cid marina and resort in puerto morales and Barcelo in the mayan - thoughts?

i am trying to get my fi onboard with bringing our own photographer, is that normal?

I think with weddings, and destination weddings in particular, there isn't always a "normal" to everything. I don't see anything wrong with that. A lot of people have their bridal shower guests self-address the envelopes that their thank you cards will come in. I don't think anyone would mind.

What a fun way to celebrate your engagement. I hope you have a great party!

I think thats a brilliant way to get your guests addresses.  You could write a cute little note explaining addresses are needed to send wedding invitations.  Then you dont have to try to track everyone down to find out addresses.

That is a good idea, but wouldn't you have their addresses already since your moms would have had to send out invitations to the engagement party???

As for the photographer if you don't have a particular one in mind there is one on the BDW offering free destination wedding photography in order to build her portfolio, all you have to do is pay for her travel cost, she is based out of Florida.

Good Luck!  :)

it is definitely normal to bring a US photographer, since they have tons of experience and beautiful work you love. I am always inspired by new locations and that way I can always stay fresh and unique! However not all photographers will do destinations since it is entirely different. :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
