Iberostar Grand Jamaica Wedding 2013!!!

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I am new to this website but I have found so many of the threads helpful so far.  I had a question;

Do you need to use a travel agent in order to hold rooms for your guests?  We booked our wedding for February 2013 and we have been speaking to a travel agent but the prices she has been finding seem outragious and I have found much better package deals for room and flight on Orbitz.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  If we don't hold rooms, how soon will our guests have to book by?  There really are so many questions surrounding destination weddings.  Thanks for your help!

It sucks for us brides because in order to secure our wedding date we have to pay the price at the time we're securing the date. and if it goes down in the future we cant get it for that price.

I might be wrong but this is the issue i just came across. i just threw the towel in on The grand because the prices just keep going up and it sucks finding better deals on orbitz and book it. im now considering the riu. the grand is just wayy over priced

Hi Heather!

I'm getting married May 4th, 2013 and we are using a travel agent to coordinate travel and accommodations for ourselves and our guests.  We did have to place a deposit, but if the rate changes at anytime up to 30 days prior to our departure our travel agent will have the resort honor that price.  She was also able to provide a group discount code for our guests so they can be flexible with their room type and length of stay.  Shop around and find a travel agent that works well with you.  Hope this helps!

I have also found destinationweddings.com is helpful. We have been using someone from there and they help set up website and help contact gets for me to remind them. And being that it is early enough you can have your guest set up payment plans so that they don't have to pay all at once.

I was married at Iberostar in Jamaica over 6 months ago. It's beautiful there! Be sure to pay the extra fee through the RGD to have an express license....which will take 4-8 weeks. Otherwise it will take 4-8 months on average!!! I asked for the express license and the wedding planner told me it was not needed, and I listened to her. I still do not have my license. Just an FYI :). Good luck with everything!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
