Shipping my own Centerpieces?!!

Recommended Posts

Ladies the resort is charging like $50 per table for each centerpiece and I just cant imagine paying nearly $500 just for centerpieces. IDK seems a bit extreme for me. Anyway so I am actively considering shipping my own centerpieces a week prior. I just dont know what would be the easiest and look fabulous? Thoughts? I suppose I can do the typical funky shaped vase with submerged flowers in the water and candles but kinda wanted something different. Did anyone ship or use their own decor for centerpieces? If so pics please?

I'm not sure where you live, or if you have a connection for import/export shipping, but when I looked into shipping a box down to Mexico, the cost was well over $500 for the shipping. And for giggles I priced one to DR, and it was $600+ for ups and fedex from the US.

Guess why the resorts can charge you so much for the centerpieces...? because they can, because they are the only option.

I'd say unless it's something simple enough to carry down with you in luggage (or have a guest take down with them for you), you're probably better off using the resort options, or shopping for something when you get there (if that's even feasible).

Good luck!!

I agree with AllieH.  The cost to ship them down there will be outrageous.  Then you have to worry about whether or not they will get there in time, or arrive all in one piece.

I would suggest finding some ideas on here if you don't want to pay the fee at the resort, and bring the supplies in your luggage to create your own once you are down there.  yes it sucks because it will take up extra space in your suitcase, however, even if you brought an extra suitcase with just your centerpiece items, it will be cheaper then paying the shipping down to your destination.

I will be shipping my centerpieces and some other decor to my wedding coordinator. Not sure why most people would look into UPS and what not to ship (too expensive) I will be using flat rate boxes through the USPS to send them to St. Maarten. I use to send my FI care packages in Iraq this way and never had an issue!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
