Blanca Casteneda - Wedding Coordinator

Recommended Posts

I was a little skeptical when I first hired Blanca as she is the second recommendation from Cabo Surf Hotel and then I couldn't find information on her any where else. I ended up hiring her based on an email I received back from one of the three references she gave me (who also, incidentally recommended I use The Twins).

Blanca was very inexpensive, she only charged $800 to answer my emails and do research for the 8 months leading up to my wedding, coordinate a welcome dinner, rehearsal, our official wedding (which took place the day before), a rehearsal dinner, and then the actual wedding! I know realize the markups the coordinators charge are really what they refer to as their "comission", which, for the amount of work Blanca did for me is fair - I just wish they would call it their comission since we all compare prices and know what everyone else is paying for things. Having said this - Blanca did not mark up most items and actually was less expensive than most of the other quotes I had seen on this board. She worked with me on everything and when I told her things were too expensive, she found it for less or gave me alternative options. If I went on my own with vendors, she was fine with that and still did all of the coordinating with them - I would just tell her, for example, Jennifer Hatton is doing my cake for $375, and she took care of the rest.

On the day of my wedding, I didn't see Blanca too much, that is because she was downstairs making sure everything was set up perfectly for her detail oriented and obsessed bride (that would be me). All of the details from the perfectly raked sand, to the placement and set up of the extra tables, bar, lounge area, band, you name it was perfectly coordinated and ready to go, so as the ceremony began - all of the work was done and there wasn't any transitioning.

At the end of the night, she made sure my Tiffany's cake knife and server were back in their blue box and waiting in my room (I was a little nervous the kitchen might just wash them and put them away)!

Blanca was amazing and at the end of it all, if I hadn't spent my entire wedding budget (and then some) I was going to give her a bonus for the amazing job she did. She definitely does not get the credit she deserves!

Her email is blanca@weddingsbyheart.com and her website is www.weddingsbyheart.com. Let me know if you have any questions, etc...

    • The cooking method can double the calorie content of a meal, so learn about healthy cooking without having to add extra fats, like using a steamer,  a rotisserie , a slow cooker , a pressure cooker, a grill. Once you cook your own meals, you can control the calorie content because your control the cooking method and all the ingredients. A lot of people are overweight because they keep eating food that they did not cook.
    • I have stayed at Dreams La Romana and Dreams Dominicus.  The two resorts are very different in style and decor. A few comparison points are below and fact sheets are attached for both.   Both resorts are approx 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport, close proximity to Saona Island, Catalina Island and Altos de Chavon. Top championship golf courses in the Caribbean are just minutes away including Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore, The Links and La Estancia – all designed by world-famous Pete Dye. Restaurants are similar at both resorts.  Both offer the Explorers Club for Kids.  Dreams Dominicus  Brand new resort and in 2016 488 rooms (however additional construction was underway) More contemporary style & decor Good beach area Rooms were very nice Preferred Club located in main lobby and adjacent to main pool & beach front Food was good Center plaza area with nighttime entertainment Main lobby is small, but outdoor bar off lobby is nice Dreams La Romana Originally built in 2003 & opened as Dreams La Romana in 2008 756 rooms Recently renovated and new preferred club adults only lounge & pool added  Rooms are more traditional Caribbean decor Grounds are very lush and tropical Good beach area food was good    Dreams Dominicus fact sheet.pdf Dreams La Romana fact sheet.pdf
    • My sister has done it but with the destination wedding, only super close family members and friends came since it was expensive and farther. It was great though.
