Ivory Dress Ladies!

Recommended Posts

Wasn't sure where to post my question but hopefully this will get me some help, or at least a place for anyone else with similar issues due to wearing an ivory dress can post questions and discussion.

First of all, I'm having a bear of a time trying to find shoes for my dress.  I would love ivory, but I'm leaning toward silver because there are just many more options out there.  I think I'm being too picky though!

My real question I could use input on:

How should I get my nails done?  Normally I go for the french manicure gel, but the tips of this are white!  Can you get them in ivory?  Should I do something different?  I'm 6 weeks out now, leaving for Punta Cana in 5 weeks.  Working on the small details and this is my latest puzzle!

Thanks all!

Hi there..

I am actually wearing an ivory dress too.  I think I will get a french manicure and I think it will look fine with the dress.  Trust me....No one will comment as you walk down the aisle "shhh...look at her white tip nails with her ivory dress!"  LOL!

I think the french manicure is a clean look....but I am looking for a fruit punchy pink for my toes!

Good luck!!!!  You are down to the wire!

I'm wearing ivory, and will have an American manicure instead of french - it's an off white tip vs. bright white. I agree with JQ though - I don't think anyone will notice french vs. american or anything else!

Shoes were a hard find for me too - but not b/c I wanted ivory. I wanted a blue sandal, and still haven't found the 100% perfect choice (I have something that will work, but isn't perfect. and I always take any excuse to shop for shoes!). I think you'll be just fine with silver if you don't want a pop of color in your shoes.

I think I'm going to see if the nail salon has any kind of off-white or champagne colored gel for the tip of the manicure or else I'll stick with the regular french.  I'm sure it will look ok and I'm stressing for no reason.  Toes I will figure out at the resort.  Having pedicures with my sisters morning of the wedding.

For shoes I wouldn't mind blue at all or maybe even purple, but those are our colors so they'd have to be the right shade of those colors (another challenge).  I think I just have something pretty specific in mind (see fibiandclo.com cascade sandals - which don't come in silver) and I am being too picky...

You are allowed to be picky about your wedding shoes!! You only get married once.

Like others said I dont think many people will comment on your fingers.  My best friend had her tips done in a blue that matched her bridesmaid dresses and I dont think many people noticed at all.  Everyone will be looking at how beautiful you are in your dress that they wont have time to worry about nails.  I did mine french white and had two blue gems on my thumbs as blue was my color.  My toes were a bright color that went with my blue shoes.  I say have fun and do what you want!!

I will be wearing an ivory gown. I purchased my shoes from Davids Bridal and I am having them dyed to the color of my bridesmaids dress (peacock blue). The shoes them self are encrusted with crystals and I think should be perfect. I'm hoping that it will be a little way to tie it all in together! How long does it take to do the dyeables and how much does that cost?  Does David's provide that service?  Great idea, blue shoes could be a lot of fun!

I did my nails and toes both a shimmery silvery light colour, my nails don't do well with the gels, so I opted to skip them.  My jewellery was silver, so it worked! I bet Silver shoes would work too,  I had green shoes, so I don't know about ivory- however I found mine on ninashoes.com - they had a lot of colours!

  • 9 months later...

I too have an ivory dress, and I will be getting a french. But I somehow want a major pop on my ring fingers, maybe some sparkles or something. I have beem looking online and can't find anything Ilike. My shoes are a blue/purple/pink and sparkles all over! They don't really match with my wedding colors, (davids bridals malibu and pink) but they are an awesome pop of color and beautiful, and I can never turn down sparkles! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
