2013 Now Larimar Brides !!! Any out there ???

Recommended Posts

I just was reading other threads on Now ... and one said that she had her private reception at the quite pool - and it was a buffet style. I couldn't tell if the buffet is private or the wedding, or it's a general buffet for the public ... She did say that a few people tried to come up and take a plate and the WC had to tell them to leave ... Wouldn't a plated dinner be easier then having a buffet? That's what confuses me ... why they wont allow a plated dinner ... Anyone know anything about this?

I also heard that the beach was great.  I guess I am getting worried because our parents have high expectations as far as restaurants are concerned.  Reading about people getting sick is the worst!  And I don't know why people would expect others in a foreign country to speak English??  Spanish is their language, of course they're not going to be completely fluent in English!  Geez...;)

And who in the world complains about shampoo??

Is anyone using an outside florist?  I contacted one down there and received a very reasonable price quote, knowing that you have to pay a vendor fee.  I was thinking about doing a lot of stuff myself but have since changed my mind and decided to say screw it, I want real flowers ;).  If anyone wants the name of the florist let me know!   They do other decorations as well.

Hi !!

i was looking into finding a reliable outside vendor for my decor and flowers. can you give me their info ???

thanks so much !!!

Good evening Ladies :-). I just joined bestdestinationwedding.com although I have been following since before my wedding at Now Larimar on 11/2/2012 :-) I did not join sooner because I did not want to stress myself out with another blog, conversation, etc LOL...however, I will say our wedding went amazing.  We had a little over 90 guests attend and fly in from the US, Ecuador, and Spain...Hurricane Sandy played a major role of my NY, NJ, and MA guests but we did get them all situated and rescheduled. My Ceremony was at the Fountain, our Cocktail hour was at the Eclipse Noght Club/Lounge, and we rented Castaways for the Reception until I beilieve 11:30 pm. I do have some pictures available to share as well as some on Pinterest. I am waiting on my main Photographer to send me all of them professional ones although I have the ones the resort photographer gave me :-). If you have any questions please feel free to ask and let me know if you would like me to post any pictures. :-). I also did take a lot of my own things for wedding favors, welcome bags, and part of the centerpieices :-)

@Kristen - With the package you can choose whether you want a private buffet or a sit down menu - If you are not doing a package, or have to add more people on - the buffet is a little cheaper then the sit down menu... Also, with the sit down menu - you can only choose one meal - everyone must eat the same thing.... So some people are opting for the buffet.... I am doing a plated meal at the pool.

@PaolaLindsay - Of COURSE we would love to see some more pics!!!  I LOVE YOUR DRESS - You looked gorgeous!!  I was totally considering the Eclipse, but as of now are going with the pool - REALLY wanted Castaways... But don't want to pay the $ for it!  Pics Pics Pics Please!!

Thank you Donna. :-)

My hair was done by Mayra at the salon on the resort, she did an amazing job. I took Butterfly hair pins to match all the butterflies on the bottom half of my dress and train. I did a trial on Tuesday and got married on a Friday. We did the Divine Wedding package. WE had a Saxophonist play at the Ceremony.

I had the Cocktail hour only at the Eclipse which I never even made it and surprised the guests with Coco Locos during the hour and had the guitar Trio play at the cocktail hour also  :-) The huge Coconut Drinks and the guests loved it.

We were going to do a plated dinner for our guests but with having over 90 people there it would have taken a lot of time away from our reception so we opted with the Buffet considering we also had some surprises throughout the reception that we didnâ€t want to take away from the time. We also paid for the extra time to extend the reception. We brought 40 Chinese Lanterns in Coral, white and Silver, and also brought all the Hora Loca Favors i.e. masks, hats, ties, glasses, bow ties, etc...

We had the Hora Loca with stilt walkers, jugglers, unicyclists, dancers, the fireworks on the dance floor, lighted dance floor, LED lighting, and ended the reception with the TRIO fire dancers on the beach in front of Castaways.

Wow... Thank you so much for sharing Paolalidsay! Congratulations on your wedding, your pictures look beautiful! I

love your bouquet, the flowers that were at the table where the wedding took place, and the flower balls! Did you pay extra for that or did the resort provide that in your package? I'm glad everyone was okay from Hurricane Sandy.

Did you have to pay extra to get the Eclipse night club to hold your cocktail hour?

No Prob :-) We did not have to pay extrea for the Eclipse during cocktail hour it was available and was the wedding coordinators who actually suggested using the location since it was so hot and humid outside even though it was 5 pm. :-) The flowers balls or Pomanders actually came with out package :-) I just told the Francina, our coordinator, I want these colors, Coral, Fuchsia and hint of white mixed with tropical flowers including roses, lilies etc and the resort made them to their liking and I loved them. I sent her pictures of what I liked. ORchids are the most expensive which were actually floating in the glass of our center pieices but we brought the silk Orchids which we purchased from Jo-Ann Fabrics, The rest were all natural flowers made by the resort and they also included the lighted floating LED lights. We also brought the Stemmed lights that came out of the centerpieces made by David Tutera (Jo-ann Fabrics). I will get a pic of Centerpieces and also put up online. :-) FYI the cake...I had a 4 tier cake due to the large amount of guests...IT IS HOT and HUMID outside my cake melted allover the place with the edible starfish I actually flew in from Florida that were mandmade :-( it looked beautiful at the beginning but a mess at the end because they kept sliding off etc...so be careful on your cake choices!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
