No booze!? I'm sad for you girls. Really sad.

I too have massive cravings. I think my body just tries to sabotage me into getting fatter. If you place something bad in front of me, I'll resist for awhile. Eventually I lose and eat it. Totally feel your pain!

Oh ok! Whew! I feel bad for Maura then. I'm at my best when I've been drinking. I was just telling my friends the other day, no one has me DD because I'm so much better drunk. They don't want me whining in the corner the whole night. haha

the beer allergy has something to do with an enzyme deficiency and the hops. however, i do not have celiac's, and am fine eating other things with gluten.
even smelling beer makes my stomach turn, it's that bad. the 4 times in my life i tried to consume beer in college, i never made it past 2 sips without starting to become ill immediately.

but i have a number of food allergies, so its not surprising to me. here are a few of my others:
fish, shellfish, crustaceans (i have an epipen for this reason alone because i have been hospitalized after both eating fish on accident and from receiving certain vaccines that are also tied to eggs)
eggs (seems to be worse if i eat something like scrambled eggs or a fried egg versus having it as an ingredient in a recipe.
dairy (which isnt too serious, i just drink lactose free milk, but i refuse to give up cheese which is sometimes a serious problem so i can only eat a little cheese at a time)
iodine - another combo allergy with the fish, which also is an ingredient in some vaccines

lovely, right? smile41.gif
my younger sister is allergic to peaches and nectarines, but when she had a scratch test a few years ago, it didnt show up. so she brought a peach with her to the allergist to prove it. her lips swell to 4 times normal size and turn purple, and she gets red bumps on her face. no anaphylaxis though. just swelling and color change of skin, so its not horribly serious.

rach- dont feel bad for me. its not like i cant have any at all... i usually stop myself after one. if i have 2-3 depending on what kind of alcohol, i start to get sick. anything past 3 and im sick for days. hard liquor and white wine are not as much of a problem for me as beer and red wine, i have to avoid those completely. but i love me a margarita every now and then cheesy.gif

Yiiipppppeeeee! Sounds like you are well on your way. I think signing up can be one of the hardest steps to make. It's challenging for the first couple of weeks until you can figure out what you can/should eat, etc. There's people in my WW who have lost over 100 and are still going - so 50s not bad! punk.gif
Thx for the support Kashmira! I'm already looking fwd to my next meeting. BTW, I really enjoy your posts on this thread, very informative and motivating wink.gif

I know this is gonna sound crazy, but I think you're lucky you can't drink alcohol. Not drinking is harder for me then not eating dessert.

That was so nice of your FI! He sounds so sweet!

As far as curbing the cravings, I say don't try to curb them at all because thats torture. LOL. BUT..do try to substitute them. I love ice cream. So I have substitutes. Haagen Dazs makes an AMAZING strawberry sorbet. It is 100% fat free and only 120 Calories per serving or 2 points. Or when we take Steve's son to Marble Slab, I eat their yummy chocolate frozen yogurt. A small is like 3 points total and fat free! I love salty things too, so I will eat a 100 calorie pack of ritz or cheese its.

Tomorrow we are planning on eating out at "The Melting Pot", which is nothing but fondue. Such a no no. So Steve and I are going to go for a jog in the morning so I can get some flex points to help off set it.

Hang in there! Don't let one bad week ruin next weeks progress.

I love power yoga, ashtanga, all those Hatha Yoga's that get you sweating! Try out a power yoga or a "flow" class - you may find out you've been doing one all along! I've taken the hot yoga classes but only Bikram - which I did not like at all. For me it was very boring - I did not like that you do that same exact series of poses every class and you do not ever "flow" from one pose to another. However a good friend just loves it so it's worth giving a try. The heat for me seems unnecessary because if you're getting a good yoga work-out you're creating lots of heat of your own! Oh and not all "hot yoga's" are bikram either (which to e is a good thing! wink.gif) - so try it out and get back to us! OK, sorry, I love talking about yoga - I am a total dork!

I am the SAME exact way and in fact was just saying to my DH that last week when I had PMS I couldn't get enough food. now all of a sudden I have my period and I'm not very hungry (rare! I must take advantage).

Awwwww! You're so sweet! I think that's the beauty of us all doing this together - we can share what we've learned so far! At this point I've been doing WW (on and off as far as ACTUALLY doing it wink.gif) for over a year and I have to give credit to my WW leader because she is amazing!

Me too! I love the WW Smart Ones chocolate chip cookie dough sundae for 3 points topped with Cool Whip (the fat free kind). It's about 3.5 points and I literally eat it every night for dessert! That way I feel like I'm indulging and I don't end up feeling deprived and saying F it! BTW - these are delicious but only buy them if you can handle them! What I mean is they are SMALL and you need to be able to limit yourself to one. Everyone has their things that they can't moderate. For me it's actual cookies, cheese, other delicious things - but I seem to be ok with these sundaes.

If any of you start feeling deprived go check out the frozen dessert section in the grocery store - there are lots of great substitutes! And you can just include them in your daily points if you prefer not to use your flex points.

Congrats on the 8 lb loss already...I have until March 2009...but I definitely need a headstart on that so I'm going to join you all if that's ok!

Have to 2nd Corey's recommendation on Dotti's Weight Loss Zone website. I've gone back to that site SOOOO many times whether I was on the program or not. Has 1000's of restaurants as well with point values assigned to each item on their menu's!

Good luck to us all! :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
