Another who should pay for the day pass question

Glenda's post is VERY similar to how I've been handeling people who want to book with other travel agents or Expedia. It actually works quite well!

Welcome to the frustrated bride club. On top of paying for the AI, my hotel is making me pay for reception/rehearsal dinner food for 10 guests that can only eat kosher food (which I am bringing in for the weekend for them).

I don't know if this answers your question, but my WC told me that the extra day pass charge is because the guests get to use the resort benefits for the entire day. That means they can eat, drink, use the pool, etc.

I think it's guests responsibility to pay for the day fee if they aren't staying at your chosen resort. Even your friends who will be staying with friends. IMO!

I don't think it has anything to do with what type of hotel you are booking at hun. To me, you are have made certain arrangements at a certain hotel. If people want to stray from that I say go for it, BUT, as you have made the arrangements for THAT hotel, they can ante up if they want to go elsewhere.

 

That's totally how I feel and if my guests wanted to do the same thing that's exactly what I would say. If they can afford to go to a more expensive hotel then they sure as **** can afford the day pass to get to your wedding!

I wonder if any of the Mrs. on the forum have had this issue. I can't see any instance were I would expect the bride and groom to pay for my day pass if I stayed outside the room block.

This is another post where is was talked about before. People were split on pay or don't pay. So I was a little concerned because I wouldn't want to pay.

I think the fees the resort charge are more about having a private function, so the fees cover the costs of waitstaff & setup of your event, etc... so its not necessarily the food that they're charging you for, I'm sure some of it is, but more its the staff & other stuff and I'm sure just the fact that they can charge, they're going to!

Stress to everyone how you want them to stay at your hotel but I suggest paying for the day pass if they decide to stay elsewhere b/c if not, it looks like you are charging a 'cover' to go to your wedding. Plus they are flying far to go there and spending a lot of loot in the first place to be t here.

Hi Morgan! First off, I myself thought about your question personally. My take? Now, If the resort can accomadate all your guests without a problem - and ur guests decide to stay somewhere else - then no, don't pay for there day pass. If you choose a small resort and u invite more than the hotel can accomodate then yes, u should pay for there pass. Hope that helped some!

If I got married at an AI (and we did consider Dreams) and I had guests who chose to stay somewhere else we definitely would have paid for their passes on the day of the wedding. To be honest it never even ocurred to us to ask our guests to pay for the pass themselves. To me people are already spending a lot of money to fly there, rent cars, stay in hotels. Just my opinion.

 

I think you may not be getting a ton of the "pro-pay" supporters because it's been one of the more heated issues and in the end no one wants to offend anyone.

 

Whatever you decide I'm sure it will be a lovely wedding.
