I got a ton of ideas from it and then looked up an APP for smart phones and created a scavenger hunt game for our wedding weekend festivities with a start & end date and time. Every thing is points based, you post a pic, you can see the other teams leader boards, etc. I'm sending out all this info to our guests in a Newsletter with pics of the app to download and then I'm also including a list of the things to hunt/find and their point value in our Welcome Bags so people without smart phones can play if they would like, use their digital camera and email me the photos. We said the winner will be announced when we return home and a prize will be mailed out.

Wow, ladies thank you for these amazing ideas! I was thinking of having some games during cocktail and reception. But things like mad libs for the couple or trivia about us. I'm going to incorporate these ideas too! LOVE the tee shirt prizes!

We're going to play an ice breaker game since some of the guests coming won't know anyone else and everyone will be hanging out all weekend. I'm not a huge fan of ice breakers, but I played this one at a work function and it wasn't too terrible. It's a version of bingo, but instead of numbers/letters on each card it's facts about people in your group. For example I'm a teacher, I went to X college. So people have to go around and find people that fit those characteristics and get them to sign the square. The once you get 4 across, diagonal etc (like regular bing) you win. It’s an easy way for someone to start a conversation with someone else they don’t know besides, “so how do you know the bride a groom?†You can make it as hard or as easy as you want. I don’t want to make it too easy as I want the game to last a little while. So some categories only fit a few people. We’re having welcome cocktails the first night everyone is there, so I hope to play the game then. (may be good before the wedding, not during )  Also don’t forget to bring pens for everyone to use since they probably won’t have any on them.

 

Here’s are some example categories so you get the idea to make your own. I was trying to make sure everyone at least fit a few. I haven’t made the cards yet, but I’m going to pull from this list:

• I am family of groom
• I am family or bride
• I have lived in howard county, md (now or previously)
• I went to UMD
• I went to PSU
• I have lived in Bethsda, MD at some point
• I have worked with bride
• I went to highschool with brdie
• I have known groom since he was X age..
• I have known bride since she was X age..
• I have been on groom’s kickball team
• I have been outside of the country this year (before Jamaica) or outside the continental U.S
• I have been to Peru and climbed machu picchu
• I’m attending with a significant other so I'm just getting to meet everyone (including the bride and groom!) for the first time
• I also got married this year
• I work in IT (now or previously)
• I am a teacher (now or previously)
• I work with kids (now or previously)
• I am the Grooms grandma
• I am the Brides grandma
• I am one of the Brides siblings
• I went to school in Virginia
• I was just in Africa

• My birthday is in September (Hint: one of them is turning 3 years old)

…just think of cool (or not so cool ) facts about your guests but you get the idea

I'm looking for ideas of games or activities that I could organize throughout the week at the resort so that our guests could get to know each other better. We have a lot of people coming and I want the different groups to interact, and want to be able to see people as often as possible. I figured if we put some events on the Welcome booklet then they are welcome to drop in and meet the other guests if they are just lounging that day anyways. One idea I had is to have a beer chugging competition, where our guests would get into teams, and the winning team gets a prize. I was also thinking maybe we could organize a volleyball game with just our guests on one of the days, for whoever is on the resort and wants to show up.. Any other ideas?   We've got some prizes planned for guests who meet certain 'criteria' throughout the week, and all the prizes come with a T-shirt with a label describing what they 'won' (and that they won it at our wedding in Jamaica)... For example we have the 'PARTY ANIMAL' award for the Guest who gets a little too wild. And we've got the "SUN BURN CHAMPION" award. And the "PARTY FOUL" award for the guest who gets too sloppy. I think we will make ones for "BEER CHUGGING CHAMPION" too, for the winners of the beer chugging competition.. Any other ideas? I hope my fiance doesn't win them all haha.
