Transporting Wedding Dress

Did everyone get their dress bag when they bought their dress? I bought mine on e-bay and it came from a bridal salon but in a clear bag (like they have in store)... uh, that wasn't soo good for hiding from the world. I bought a bag online, but it's really thin, almost paper-like. Probably more for storage than travelling..

Any suggestions?

I would just go to a bridal salon and offer to pay for one of theirs. Also, try some retailers in a mall near you. When I worked in retail, we always had people coming in to ask if we had any bags for dresses (we never charged) and we always had a lot because of grad/prom season. I would just hit the more hit-end retail stores that would have better quality, zip-up bags.

I paid $10 for mine at David's Bridal.

I actually had two bags - one came from the designer & the other from the bridal salon. I ended up giving the designer's bag to my MOH to carry her dress. The salons bag was plastic & for the most part worked out well - but by the return trip I got a rip in the bottom of the bag from dragging it thru the airport.

I double-bagged everything. I had a clear plastic bag that my TTD dress came from, and then a white more traditional wedding dress bag (but it wasn't very thick) that my real dress came in. I did get a small tear in the outside bag during travel, so I was glad I'd double bagged. I also covered everything under both layers with a white trash bag that I slipped over the hangers on the top, just to be safe as there is a small gap where the hangers go through the bag.

It just made the dress bag unbelievably heavy- but just keep that in mind if you find some clothes you just can't fit into your suitcase! lol

I'm going to try this trick as well ... but OMG I can already envision how friggin HEAVY its going to be ... and FI isn't so careful with that sort of stuff so I'll be the one lugging it through the airport, along with my other carry-on. girl_werewolf.gif Tom will likely only have one suitcase ... but he's wearing his dress blues for the ceremony and then changing into khakis and a Guayabera (sp?) shirt for the reception ... so we'll have that, my real and TTD dresses (both HEAVY!) and any other sundresses etc I can't get into my suitcase. lol.

My arm hurts just THINKING about carrying this through the airport. And I'm DEFINITELY double -- if not quadruple (hehe) bagging...smile105.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
