Last Minute Question - when to go?

Recommended Posts

So I'm meeting with my travel agent to book my trip this afternoon, and I can't decide on what day to leave.

My wedding is Friday July 11th at 6pm. I originally thought we would leave on Wednesday. Mom thinks we need to get there Tuesday to have time to make all the plans with the WC. We aren't doing the legal ceremony there, so residency isn't an issue.

If we can't meet the WC until Thursday for a Friday wedding, is that bad? Should I listen to mom and add a night to our trip? Help!!!

i did show up in Mexico on Sat or Sun for our Friday wedding, but only because we wanted to make a longer week of the trip. i think i met w/my WC on Tue. but there was nothing that needed to be done that couldn't have waited until the morning of the wedding to be honest. so in my case, meeting before the day of the wedding (or morning of) wouldn't have been a big deal at all.

I think meeting with the WC the day before would freak me out. With that said, they do it all the time so its not really a big deal. I just know I would want more time. If you are comfortable with meeting her a day before, I don't think its an issue.

EDIT make sure to ask your WC if a day before is okay, they might need more time than that to order flowers and make menu choices, etc.

I'm going on Monday for my Friday wedding. Part for residency, part for piece of mind! I would get way too nervous booking everything for my wedding the day before. I need time to come up with back up plans and be an annoying bridezilla...

We're going Wednesday for our Saturday wedding. I think you should go Tuesday. You truly might not meet with Laikin until Thursday, but it will give you time to scout out the resort and see if you find locales for the ceremony or reception that they had not shown you in the pics. I think it will help you get a feel for the resort and for what you want/expect from your wedding.

I think I should have left atleast 2 days between my arrival and my guests... I hope it will be ok!
I think it will be plenty. I've heard the meetings don't take long.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
