the good with the bad, beach washed away by hurricane, expedited govt paperwork

Recommended Posts

Ok, so i've spent a week down in mexico to take care of my house, and work on some wedding planning. The last time I tried to work on my wedding planning, Hurricane dean said otherwise: check out this blog post Matt Adcock Photography Blog to see why I was evacuating!

Well, before I evacuated, I had a week planned to do wedding planning stuff... That obviously didnt get done, so now I have returned and am having meetings, went to do a site visit yesterday and WOW, HOLY COW BATMAN. The beach is gone... now all rocks. not good. 100% makeover due to the hurricane. This makes me sad as we may be choosing another location... thousands down the drain on a deposit... I am meeting with my coordinator today, Yazmin de Lamora, and we are going to visit different villas for site visits... How cool is she for doing this with me? I'll let you know how it goes.

now for the goooood news :)

On another note for those of you who don't know our personal situation at home... Sol & I got married on June 2. We did this because of the legal process to apply for a visa for her in the US.. A green card and a travel permit. She entered the country on May 23 and budget 5 months of NO WORK through Oct 25 for this process. Last week we FINALLY received the receipt that they are working on our application and that we should expect 60-90 days MORE from sept 11, to process our request... WHAT? Ok, so I wrote a letter, citing her 8 remaining contracts in 2007 and the urgent need to expedite the application. I sent this letter to my GA Senator and the offices that received our application, sent on Monday last week. yesterdays, we received notice that they ARE EXPEDITING OUR APPLICATION :) YEAY YEAY YEAY YEAY YEAY :) so happy now!

Good things do happen :)

Cheers!

But sorry to hear about your site sad.gif that is really too bad - because that was a beautiful location (I checked it out!) I am sure that you will find something else, or make this one work. Either way - it will be beautiful!!

Matt and Yazming where scounting for locations all day today; they haven't found anything like Secret Jewels, that is so lush in vegetation.

They went back today, and it seems that people is working trying to make the beach look nicer, so maybe we will stay there after all.

I'm sooo excited that I may get my papers soon, so I can go personally and take care of business!... I found a great designer in Cancun that is going to make my dress... as I have the idea on my mind.., so I'm thrilled to know that I'm coming back home!!!

YEAY!!!...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
