Doing everything wrong?

I know there is probably no right or wrong way to do things but i just feel like im doing things backwards. The resort my wedding is now booked in is a small boutique hotel with only 22 rooms. The resort initally required the bride and groom to put down a 50% deposit on all the rooms that they want to reserve for their wedding guests. Well for me this is impossible, not only do i not know what rooms my guest will want as they range in price per room, some rooms sleep 2 guests while others sleep 4 or 6 but also to put down a 50% deposit on the amount of rooms i would require would be approx. $15,000 which is money or a credit card limit i do not have. So instead of doing it this way we figured out our date and just had everyone we knew to be coming for sure (close family and bridal party) to book right away. We now have 7 rooms booked and are just waiting for 3 more couples which should be this week. I have yet to contact the WP of the resort since booking (just waiting for the last 3 couples) I hope that because i didnt do it the way they requested doesnt screw anything up for me but i just didnt see any other choice.

Also because now almost everyone is booked should i still send out invites?

You're not doing everything wrong :)  You're doing the best you can with the situation in front of you!  We still sent out invites even though we did it after everyone was booked too.  Doing it was more so just for formality purposes, rather than a "hey, you're invited" kind of thing.  It's nice to still have that keepsake (in my opinion anyway!)

Sounds reasonable enough to me. Though I think you should get in touch with the wp now considering 7 rooms are already booked, why wait for 3 more?? I would still send invitations, In fact I sent STD a year prior, then guests started booking, and am only now ordering my invites.

Sounds to me like you're doing a great job!  Your signature says you have 26 guests booked, and Tensing Pen is so stunning — it was one of my top choices too.  You're going to have an amazing wedding!

I would still send out invites, because there's detailed information that your guests still need.  What time will the wedding start?  Is there a dress code?  Are there other activities like a rehearsal dinner, day-after brunch, etc.?  If your wedding is next May, I'd send out an invitation with these details around next March or April.

Until then RELAX you are doing everything right. :)

Thanks everyone.. i am now relaxed lol.. i contacted the wedding planner last week and just said that the week was still ago, i didnt mention that my guests have already booked but she seemed to know which rooms were all booked for my guests, she listed them all off for me! And didnt have a problem with the way it was done!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
