Paradise Island, Bahamas..... RIU or Atlantis.. Which would you choose?

Good Morning Everyone,

My FI and I are planning our DW for the Bahamas.. We are set on the Cloisters located at the One and Only Resort for our ceremony. So we def want to stay on Paradise Island.. We both love the Atlantis because it has soo much to do, but I am beginning to think an All-inclusive would be better for our guests as well as us. (Esp. with Atlantis' food prices, from what I have read)

So my question is, if you've been to either or both of these resorts, what are your recommendations?

I have also read today that anyone can go over to Atlantis to eat, shop or go the aquariums or Casino for no charge. But the water park does have a fee. (Does anyone know if this is true?. And if so, can you pay a fee to visit the water park for a day (Price?) or is this for Atlantis guests only?)

I've heard depending on the size of your group you can get good rates for one of the less expensive towers in Atlantis, but they do charge you for everything. You can have access to everything if you stay at Comfort Inn on Paradise Island (but it's not all-inclusive). Everyone is allowed into Atlantis to look around, go to the shops, Casino and the main aquarium and also see the artifacts for no charge. You have to pay to use their exclusive beach and water park. You can purchase a day pass for about $100 per person if you are not staying there. I'm cheap and I wouldn't pay for it, there are less crowded free beaches like Cabbage Beach not that far from Cloisters. If your looking for water fun you can also do Sandy Toes or Blue Lagoon, private islands you take a boat to that has water activities and dolphins and a place to eat. Might be cool for your wedding group to do together. I haven't heard great things about the rooms at RIU. My guy says he drops people off there and if they can afford it they get back in the taxi and ask to be taken to a nice place. This girl was in two rooms and wrote a not so great review: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/sheraton-nassau-beach-resort-bahamas/reviews/5149 . I've gone to a lot of the hotels when looking for my group and checked prices if there are more your interested in just ask. If you do end up staying on Nassau it's really not that far away the difference is a dollar toll fee to go over the bridge. You can also try VBRO.com if you'd like to rent a house for your group on Paradise Island right next to Cloisters (or anywhere else)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
