Back from site visit and relieved to have found a place

Recommended Posts

hi! i was so glad to read about your site visit! i am planning a march wedding in cancun/riviera maya and we are planning our site visit for later next week. i would love any advice or suggestions you may have.

what other hotels did you look at? it seems like all the riviera maya hotels are all inclusive and i really don't want that for the wedding. did you find many that weren't all inclusive? it was interesting what you said about deciding cancun instead of the riviera maya~we are headed that way as well. did you look at the westin or the omni in cancun? did you schedule appointments with the hotels or just show up? did you rent a car? are you have a rehearsal dinner at a restaurant or hotel? is the hotel providing airport transportation? when is your wedding?? so many questions, i know, whatever help is greatly appreciated.

my friend also suggested the fiesta americana. i would love pictures if you could email me. almond777@aol.com

thanks!!!!

Hi Lauren,

Thanks for your questions and welcome to the site. For our site visit, I made appointments at all the locations. I would definitely recommend it because some places probably won't let you in the resort without an appointment plus it just makes it easier on you. We looked at the following places:

Fiesta Americana Condesa - Cancun

Paradisus Riviera Cancun - Puerto Morelos

Blue Parrot - Playa del Carmen

Omni Puerto Aventuras - Puerto Aventiras

Occidental Grand Xcaret - Xcaret

The person who we contacted at each place to set up appointments are as follows:

FAC - Rivas Geraldine [grivas@posadas.com]

PRC - Gpos.-Elisa Amora Hernandez [romance.paradisus.riviera.cancun@solmelia.com]

BP - Paula Riquelme [paula@blueparrot.com]

OPA - Emmanuelle Florin [emmanuelleplaya@prodigy.net.mx]

Emmanuelle can also help you with the Omni in Cancun. She is extremely nice and helpful.

We did not set up an appointment for OCX because we were staying there.

We rented a car from Easy Way Rental Cancun Car Rental, Rent a car in Cancun, Playa del Carmen Easy Way Car Rental This place seems a little shady but we got a decent car at a good price. It is located off-site from the airport. I would definitely recommend a car if you are going from place to place.

As for the rehearsal dinner, there is a great Italian restaurant on the property that we were thinking of using but we may decide to go off the property for variety. So the jury is still out on that one.

I sent photos of FAC to your email address. If there is anything else you need, please don't hesitate to ask. Good luck with your planning.

Regards,

Melissa

Monika,

The grounds of Paradisus were beautiful!!! We actually liked that place the best from looks alone. There was also a small wedding going on when we were there. I have some pictures if you are interested. I really like the terrace area and the "aisle" down to the beach. I think it will be a beautiful place to have a wedding but we just didn't feel it. I think it felt a little too quiet for us, well not actually for FI and me, but for all the guests that will be coming. Also, we want to be married in a church and there was not one close enough and it would have been a logistical nightmare to transport everyone back and forth to the church.

Best of luck with your wedding. It really is a lovely place.

Thanks Melissa! I feel much better now!! Actually, we're getting married in a church in Playa about 20 minutes (with no traffic) away... but I can see if you have 80 guests that would be a nightmare.

Thanks again!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
