We could have used round tables but because of the layout we thought there would be too much separation.  If I could set the round tables up in a pyramid configuration than it might be a different story. But the long table just gives our wedding group a bit more of an intimate feel.  Also, we never liked the idea of sitting by ourselves at a head/sweetheart table, again, it just didn’t fit with our goal to have an intimate wedding and thought that we would be the ones missing out on the fun and great conversation.  We considered sitting at the head of the long banquet table, but preferred the idea of being in the middle. We thought that sitting at the head would create this weird hierarchy of who we were closest to and liked the most which we wanted to avoid.

I should note that we have 22 confirmed guests and don’t anticipate any more than 28 people to attend. If we had any more than 35 guests I probably wouldn’t do the long banquet table setup.

Choco- I am jealous of how well you speak (type).

    Basically "what she said"

My reception area is also on a Terrace overlooking the ocean (long linear space)

So Mark has 3 friends from work coming and they're each bringing their wives. Do I sit all 3 couples together at one table because the guys work together and know each other or do I sit each couple at a different table so they get to mix and mingle with other guests?

Do I sit the bridal party all together or mix them up with other people as well? I have 4 bridesmaids and 2 of them are bringing their husbands so that would be 6 if I kept them all at the same table. But I also have 2 hostesses so that would mean they would have to sit somewhere else.

I was kinda thinking maybe I should put all the couples together and then all the singles together? Ugggghhhhh!!!! LOL

I was just thinking the same thing about whether I should mix the tables or keep them arranged by people who knew eachother... Still haven't decided.

My resort has told me they set up one long table.  So, I'm thinking Todd and I will sit at the end of the table.  Everyone else will be down the sides.  Any suggestions on how to organize your guests?  Who sits closest to the bride and groom?  Do you sit your wedding party together, with our without spouses?  HELP please!

We're doing one long table as well but I kinda liked the idea of being in the middle. That way you literally are the center of attention and you can be even more surrounded by your guests then just stuck down at the end. Just my thoughts though...

I know there is probably a thread for this but I want to know what my May brides have to say. What songs have you chosen for you wedding? Walking down the aisle? After vows? First Dance? I'm looking for new or different ideas. If you don't want to share I understand. I'm just looking for new artists or new versions of songs that haven't played a million times.

We have some vitamin string quartet songs, some Tom petty, and Cas Haley( he does a great version of "No One").Also walk off the Earth has some cool cover songs, like "I roll up. "

My Dad and I are dancing to "I Loved Her First" by Heartland. This may be a big mistake, as I tear up just listening to the song, but it perfectly describes our relationship. My FI and I are having our first dance to "Valentine" by Dispatch, which probably isn't a widely known band. They're kind of "our" band, and I just love the melody of the song. We also strongly considered "You and Me" by DMB, but it was just too long. I really wanted to find an instrumental version of a more modern song to walk down the aisle to. Here's my brainstorming list I'm keeping:

              Instrumental, for ceremony:

              • Marry Me, Train
              • I think I Wanna Marry You, Bruno Mars
              • Angel, Jack Johnson (background during sand pouring?)
              • Here Comes the Sun, Beatles (lyrics, recessional?)
              • Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World, Israel Kamakawiwo’ole (acoustic)
              • Canon in D
              • Up and Away, DMB (processional?)
              • Away We Go Soundtrack
              • Just the Way You Are, Silverlake String Quartet
              • Signed, Sealed, Delivered, Steve Wonder (recessional?)
              • Brighter Than Sunshine, Aqualung (recessional?)

              Lyrical, for reception:

              • Valentine, Dispatch (first dance?)
              • You and Me, DMB (first dance?)
              • Lucky, Colbie Callait and Jason Mraz
              • I Loved Her First, Heartland (Lindsey and Paul)
              • Could You Be Loved, Bob Marley
              • Stand by Me, Ben King (Donna and Sam?)
              • What a Wonderful World, Louis Armstrong (Donna and Sam?)
              • Let My Love Open The Door, Pete Townshend

Here's some good websites for ideas:

Recessional - Love on top, Beyonce (cheesy but I love it!)

One Love, Bob Marley, or another reggae song

                1st Dance  options:

                I will go, Anthony Hamilton

That's when I knew, Alicia Keys

                All my tomorrows, Kenny Lattimore

I found love, Bebe& Cece Winans

                Giving Myself, Jennifer Hudson

                Father/Daughter:

                Your joy, Chrisette Michelle

Not sure what else yet. Or if these are even final. Just some ideas

Ladies!  I just have to vent!   Our save the dates went out in spring 2012.  Our website was out at that same time with all the travel details on it (it was even on the save the dates).  Our invites went out in early November with a "kindly reply by" date of February 1, 2013.  We sent out around 95 invites.  Guess what?? It's January 31, 2013 and I have only gotten like 30 RSVPs back!!   I am soooo frustrated.  I have spent all day and week getting everyone's status.  And, I keep hearing that they are just not sending the RSVP back (one even said they just threw away the invite when they got it 'cause they knew they weren't going).  Let me just say - I wish I had not wasted so much money and time on invitations.  I had even pre-stamped the RSVPs.  What a waste! And, to make matters worse, today is the last day to book our discounted rooms and none of the groomsmen have booked!   OMG.  Wedding stress and drama!  Anyone else experiencing anything like this???

People do not understand RSVP etiquette!! I'm in the same situation but my RSVP date is march 1. I've had multiple family members say "I still have time". Some people just do not get it. I honestly wouldn't worry about people not booking on time, they are adults and if they miss the date to book the trip for cheaper then it's their loss! I've had to learn not to stress about things out of my control.
