Hi everyone!

I just joined the website recently and am super excited to have found this thread.

I am getting married May 1 2013 at the Gran Caribe Real in Cancun.

So far all I have done is book the resort and block the rooms. I also picked a dress and am currently working on my invitations.

I am having a hard time deciding on a photographer.

Any suggestions? Which photographers did you guys decide on?

Thanks!!!!

I'm a May 11th 2013 bride. Resort's booked, deposit has been sent, and STD's are mailed... I'm getting married on a Saturday at the RIU Palace Riviera Maya in Playa Del Carmen, MX. I did have a question that I have been asking myself since booking. My wedding is on a Saturday with is May 11 and I have my travel dates set from May 8th thru the 12th. Do you think that I should change my wedding date since the next day people will be leaving? I was thinking that people will be partying the night of the wedding and then catching a flight the next day home, I'm a little concerned about this. Any suggestion would be great. I can change my day to the 10th but I really wanted to get married on the 11th because that number is special to me. My birthday is Nov 11th, my FI birthday is Sept 11 and our daughter was born on Dec 11th.

What do you guys think?

You should do what you feel is right for you...but the 11th sounds like the perfect day!! You can extend one day and so can your guests if they feel its necessary. It's worth a plane ride home feeling under the weather for a night of fun at your wedding :)

I haven't decided which resort yet.  I have narrowed it down to the Majestic Elegance and the Gran Bahia Principe Esmeralda.  I'm having a really hard time deciding.  I started a comparison chart with all of the pricing.  It's going to be more money than I was anticipating for the ceremony/private dinner.  It's hard when you don't know how many people are going to come for sure.  Especially this far in advance!

I 2nd that on not knowing how many will come.. I wish we could send out RSVPs now and people respond.. lol.. Seems like it would make all the planning much easier. I say decide on the resort yall like the most!  Which one has the better ceremony sites (the one that has you preferred date and time available) And then consider which one your guests will like better as far as restaurant option, ammenties, entertainment, etc... Once you get that down, I think it will seem to get easier, and the most stressfull part will be done. :o)  We changed our minds once on our resort, even destination as you know. So I'm set on our choice and I refuse to look at others because I don't want to have the stress of trying to decide. Just know whatever you decide it will be a great experience for you and your guests! Once you get your confirmed number it will also help you determine dinner options to see if and where you need to cut corners for your budget.

So true, once we book and put our deposit down the rest of our guests have 90 days to pay their deposit.  So we should have a better sense after that.  Then based on numbers we can make some more decisions.  We are 95% sold on the Elegance now!

I wanted to give people some sort of deadline also so we can make plans. How are you wording this? Are you putting it on the STD? I don't want procrastinators and stragglers! lol

This is just the rules of the travel agent.  So I'm going to include this in the invitations as well as on our wedding website.  Maybe "RSVP with your deposit by ________ 2013, by calling and booking your trip through Marlin Travel".  Something along those lines.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
