Flying out of ATL is much cheaper.. I'm wanting to say we got our flights for $400. I'm trying to find my receipts.

One of my guests told me her quote for our DW from Tuesday-Sunday with airfare is 2300-2400. Does this seem right? I've never traveled before.

from where?  BHM?  that's possible if they didn't use a search site like Kayak and went straight to an airline site that doesn't normally fly to your DW area.  That's very possible actually.

I always say, if you think you got a good deal then you got a good deal.  Don't worry yourself over that now.  $400 is a VERY good price round trip to anywhere!

As of now, my family coming from California, the flights are around $650 to Grand Cayman. I think they will drop a bit.

For most of us on the East Coast, prices are anywhere from $400-$450 to Grand Cayman. Pretty decent, but I am just hoping to find a non-stop flight. If not, we'll just book but we're waiting until November. I do things the other way around! For domestic flights we book earlier like 5-7 months out and for international flights we book usually no sooner than 3 MAYBE even 4 months out. We went to Kenya in June, booked our tickets in April. Didn't even settle on going until March. We got an excellent price on tickets because of the off peak season for visiting that area. I think you will see the same in the prices reflected for May destination weddings in the Caribbean (I don't know about Mexico). That's off-peak time so flights/hotels and stuff will be cheaper in general.

Bhm - Birmingham, Alabama   That was the price coming from our travel Agent. :-/

that's what I was thinking! Now I just hope that's what it was! lol..

Luckily ATL (Atlanta, Georgia - where my Fiance and family lives) the prices are the best around and non-stop flights. :o) However for Bhm, there are no non-stop flights and higher prices. I wish everyone here in AL would fly in and out the same day and I would just rent them a shuttle from Bhm to Atl to get on our flight.

For an all inclusive for 2 ppl it sounds right, for one person in my opinion it sounds pricey.. I think our resort is on the cheaper side, our guests got 7days for 1500, if they had dbl occupancy..

Oh yea, sorry I should have mentioned that price was for 2 persons.

7days for 1500 per person?  If so, then our prices may be good after all. :o) While I was checking prices it was cheaper to stay more nights, which seemed odd to me. but I'm not complaining. :o)

Hi, Its been awhile since I wrote. I wanted to say that when we first said that we were having a destination wedding  A LOT of people told us they were surprised we would go that route (not sure why my FI and i LOVE to travel) or we got comments like why wouldn't you just do it here and keep it low key to save costs like do a brunch or skip out on DJ etc. It was SO annoying Why should I skip out on anything and why are you planning OUR wedding! Anyways our parents and siblings (i have 2 lil nieces and they are on board one is 3 at time of wedding the other 18 months) love the idea and are so excited and my friends are coming but some have made me feel bad like basally reminding that they spending a lot to come...which btw i got my BM dresses FOR 40 bucks, and no shoes required LOL i am trying so hard to keep it cheap for everyone. But i have had some friends who fly anywhere in the world and have been really awesome...I am there if anyone needs an extra bm!!!!

I am sending our invites first week of Dec or last week of November with an RSVP date of Feb 4th so we have 3 months of knowing exactly how much and what everything is going to be. I just want to know who is coming! we are inviting about 175 and so far we have about 45 booked trough our website/STD

So to touch on the subject of price of trips we are using a TA and thank god. When people are asking detailed questions about flight times or cost of hotel/flight I just don't have the time in my day to give long winded answers. Anyways, our TA is a trusted friend of the family and she brought up the fact, and sent an article, on the rising costs of airfare. She said usually this isn't such a big deal when planning trips. But the airfare increase has been so steady and has made such huge profit margins in 2012 that hotels are now starting to raise their prices as well. Long story short she said it's better at this point to at least put down a deposit, if you're fortunate enough to work with a TA, and lock in the price than take the gamble with airfare coming down becuase recent trending doesn't suggest they will a whole lot if at all. Just another reason to tell your guests to get a jump on it and stop messing around cheesy.gif

Sophia- It's so funny how people tell you how you need to plan your wedding! It's like "sure we'll do it your way but only if YOU'RE paying". We purposely had a DW wedding to "weed" out the family that are complainers and dream crushers. Don't get me wrong we love our family, most of them at least, but if I'm going to pay for a party I want to have fun at it. I don't want to have to worry about offending someone with our music choice or feel obligated to invite the cousin with 4 kids from different dads and her "baby boo" and his kids. We're doing a AHR so those that can't make it like our elderly grandparents or my FI neice and nephew but it's not going to be anything over the top. Just a simple laid back party. I honestly think it's amazing you have 45 people. That's crazy to me! Your are going to have so much fun becuase you will be partying with those that love you and would do anything for you. Good luck and Congrats!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
