We're planning to purchase the actual bags there (we have 50 people that have booked with the travel agent and another 10 we're expecting to) so I think it will be cheaper to haggle with the folks at the flea markets down there as opposed to buying off Discountmugs.com or killing myself searching around for affordable bags! LOL I'd like to get bags people might actually use again and the ones that I've seen here that I liked were more than I wanted to pay for 60 of them. I'm hoping to get some bags that say "Cancun" or "Mexico" on them.

We're also wanting to get some small bottles of tequila that folks can have in their rooms (we might do one per couple, not each bag), throw in a little recipe book with tequila drink recipes, and then any other items that are representative of Mexico...not really sure yet will just depend on what we see. We're going down about a week before the wedding and staying at a hotel in the Hotel Zone (non all-inclusive) for 4 nights and then we're going to check into the Excellence 3 days before the wedding. There are like 3 different flea markets not far from the Hotel Zone that I've heard brides have gotten great things from for their bags.

My fiance, mom, one of my bridesmaids and one of my hostesses are all coming with me when I go early...that way we can shop for things to put in the bags and then assemble the bags down there.

I want to go to your wedding! lol.. How have you gotten soo many people to book already?.. :o) Oh and I'll be moving to Atlanta around next May!.. I visit there every other weekend since my FI lives there.

That's a great idea to purchase the bags once you get there, so you wont have to worry about transporting them! I too wanted nice bags, but settled for reusable tote bags from Old Navy since they fit our orange and pink theme perfectly!  Love the tequila and drink recipe ideas!.. Our resort is all inclusive and all the rooms have mini bars, I was thinking out buying drink books or DIY a list of what the resort offers.. Still debating. I like that yall are going early, I'm sure you will be able to find a ton of goodies!!.. I want to go to Mexico, I've never been out of the country, but FI said we had to pick at destination he hasn't been to a bunch so we found Punta Cana that no one in our families seem to have heard of before.. lol..

I can't wait to see how your OOT bags come out, and all the goodies you get!  Don't forget to take pictures. :o)

Hi there cherany!!

You are definitely not the only one experiencing this! I've been saying the same thing lately, what can I do?! We have all the vendors booked, menus selected, STD's sent, invites on the way to me soon, and know what decorations we're going to order. Everything else is a waiting game! We can't order deocrations b/c we need to see the size of the area we'll be on once we confirm total number of guests, as we will be anywhere from 80-115 people attending. We did an RSVP of January 15th for our May 18th wedding, thinking that would give everyone plenty of time to decide & make plans, which also goes for us. SO many things are decided based on number of guests, and who wants to order too much/little and go through more trouble.

What i try to do is just keep searchng for OOT bags, decoration, and other ideas now. This way, when we know how many guests, all I have to do is click & ship!

The next few months will fly, by the time you know it, you'll be busy bee all over again =)

Has anyone else experienced a dip in enthusiasm on the planning front?  I'm excited as ever for the wedding and the marriage, but the planning part of it, I guess I ran out of steam on.  I'm getting back into the swing of things lately, though.  Some friends of ours who are in the wedding booked their flight, so it renewed my excitement and got me on the ball with flights, too.  It feels great to have that out of the way!

We're flying out late night on the 1st, figuring it's better to arrive tired and sleep on the beach on the 2nd, than to fly out in the morning on the 2nd and arrive so late that night that we can't enjoy the sun and sand till the next day, the 3rd.  Seeing as the wedding is on the 4th, I don't want our first day there be the day before the wedding.  Too stressful!

Chiming in here, but I'm also feeling like this. We have all the major stuff done - venue, photographer, invites, my dress and last week we got his outfit. Our RSVP date is next weekend, so I'm waiting until then to get an idea of how many people might be coming. But honestly, I feel like I'm done everything - though I know I'm totally not!

I might make a list of all the small things that I need to get/do, like decor, gifts, etc, just so I have it handy so I don't dawdle on getting things done closer to the date. But yeah, totally feeling the lack of enthusiasm. Plus, dealing with the drama from my relatives has made me so angry that I try not to think about wedding things afterwards.

My goal is to find a dress by the end of September so I will get it in around the holidays.  I too am hoping to lose a few pounds- i am doing ok.  I am not working out (but work in a restaurant 12+ hours, so TONS of walking and running around) but I am watching what I eat.  I LOVE the idea of sending invites around October/November and reminding people around Christmas time.  I think after the holidays people are stressed and feeling poor.  Give them some time, and maybe if they get a few bucks they can treat themselves to paradise to be a part of my special day.

Thanks for you input ladies on the invites sending time frame! I will be sending my invites in early Oct and have a RSVP date in early Feb! I will be using MissBubbles205 idea of a Christmas card RSVP reminder (my man really love that idea too). So with all the big stuff out of the way and no guest head count yet....I have starting planning the at home reception and collecting ideas and pricing for that. I figure why not be crazy prepared. Haha I do know that as soon as that number is solid I will have a whole other list of things to do!

We solved that problem before it even started by excluding our families.  Obviously, that solution only makes sense in extreme cases, but we know we made the right decision.  We're inviting our closest friends only, and everyone else will find out we got married when we return.  I call it eloping with our closest friends.

That sounds like so much fun! I really like that idea of keeping it to yourselves, like a special secret. :)

Meh, it's just my family giving me the hassle. They've either been self-centered (one would not come unless she could get a suite), rude (not acknowledging the fact that we're getting married), or down right tacky (like my aunt who asked to invite some friends to the resort and not the wedding, and then pretty much implied that she's leaving my wedding right after dinner to hang out with her friends). In hindsight, I wish I hadn't invited them. But at least I know now who I want in my life after the wedding. What can you do. :S

Geeze, how rude!!. We had a few people try to tell us where we should go for our own wedding, it annoyed me beyond belief. I was soo relieved once we booked where we wanted to go and just sent the Save the Dates. I haven't heard any crap from anyone, YAY!  I've just decided to not ask anyone if they will be there or not, as long as the FI and I are there, then that's all that really matters. :o) Cinnagirl, aren't you staying at ME? If so, we'll have to meet up at some point. We'll be there from 5/27 until 6/4.

I have no idea why people think that's okay! You wouldn't try to sway people to have their wedding at a certain venue when it's local, so why would you do it for a destination wedding? I feel like the people think the etiquette of real weddings do not apply to away weddings. Ugh, so frustrating! But it's true, as long as your fiance and yourself are there, no one else really matters.

No, we're staying at Dreams Palm Beach actually. Maybe our paths will meet up a different way while we're down there, on an excursion or something. :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
