May 2013 Brides

Recommended Posts

Your welcome!

My Fi and I had two wedding deposits with resorts that offered a full refund. Our specific wedding date was very important to us since itâ€s our anniversary and itâ€s also on a Saturday evening which seems to get booked quicker than other days  and times of the week. Iâ€m definitely glad that I didnâ€t wait, because there are 5 Brides on just on BDW with the same wedding date and two of them are getting married at resorts that I originally considered. If you donâ€t have a specific date in May, day of the week or even time of day that you want to get married, and  if you havenâ€t found a venue that “feels right†then I say wait until after your site visits to worry about wedding deposits.  We didnâ€t have the benefit of completing a site visit for any of our top venues.  We pretty much trusted the advice of BWD, our TA, and Tripadvisor when making our final selection.

My fiance and I still haven't decided on a venue and I'm getting really nervous that we won't get May if we wait too long! We are planning on going to the Riviera Maya the last week of July 2012 to visit places and do all the planning we can onsite. My FI doesn't want to decide until we do site visits in July!! Do you ladies think it's a big risk? Should I book places now that give 100% refund 6 months before the wedding? I have looked a lot on-line but nothing seems right...

Yeah $500/night is definitely pricey.  Hopefully things come together for you soon especially confirmation of Cloisters for your venue (fingers crossed).

I want to book the Cloisters ASAP to secure our day and time frame, but we loose 2350 regardless of why we might cancel.. So Hopefully Atlantis will pull through for us soon.  If anyone has been to the Bahamas, is there an AI you recommend on Paradise Island or close by?

Seems like its easy and stress-free to book in Cancun and Riviera Maya.. Makes me wish we would have chosen a place at one of those locations..

MissBubbles, don't be so silly!  I have seen all of your work and have been so jealous msnwink.gif  I think chocotaco is right about us being able to do these things because we have booked at an AI in Riviera Maya.  If I booked early then I am able to secure rates for 2012.  Sounds like the opposite for you.  We are getting married on Saturday May 18.  We plan to arrive Sunday or Monday.  I wanted to get married Thursday, but my time was not available.

We haven't confirmed anything yet due to the sale prices not being out, but we are hoping to have our Wedding Ceremony on Paradise Isalnd, Bahamas at the Augustinian Cloisters located at the One and Only resort on Wednesday, May the 29th. And we were set on Atlantis for the place for us and our guests to stay, but now I'm wondering if we should try to go with an all-inclusive on Paradise Island instead.

We plan to arrive on Monday the 27th, I believe that's the day of Memorial day so many people will be leaving out that day.  I hope!.. I totally forgot about that being Memorial week after I was set on our date choice.

We are choosing to do the ceremony during the week because flight prices are cheaper for our guests at that time and One and Only promised us a later ceremony time frame if we went with a Wednesdaay. :o)

hehe.. Well thanks girl! I did get a little DIY crazy there for a little while. This week and next are my finals so I've had to keep away from the wedding planning.. We see how much it has stopped me though... lol.

That's awesome yall was able to secure rates from 2012 for 2013. Ours say they have a start and end sale date and we have to wait for new sales to come out for 2013.. No fair!.. lol

I'm wondering if we aren't planning to get to our resort soon enough.. :-/ How soon are all the Bride and Grooms going to their destination prior to the wedding date?

Tentative plans are to arrive Monday or Tuesday and we get married on Saturday. We just wanted a few days to spend time with our family and friends. Our honeymoon kicks in the day after we get married which is strictly newlywed time!

This is great, thanks! We just picked our date of May 4th, yay but feeling overwhelmed at all of the options. We plan on inviting 100 ppl so probably actually 60ish coming. Where have you found that can accommodate large parties and reasonable price for our guests to be able to join us?

That's a great idea!! I def want to spend time with the fam and friends before the wedding rather than "during our honeymoon time" I guess we should rethink our arrival dates.

Hey ladies I wanted some advice. I have my wedding booked for Saturday, May 4th. My WC at the hotel stated I need to be there Wednesday or Thursday the latest. All my guest have requested 5 night packages from my TA. I wanted to travel in with them so that would leave us Wednesday-Sunday or Thursday-Monday. Before I make a definite choice, I was wondering what some of you though would be more accommodating? If I start asking my bridal party what they think would be better, Ill get a hundred different answers.

If the wedding is on a Saturday and we have to leave Sunday, I don't think that will be much fun for my guest. I also see people complaining about missing another work day if I chose Thursday-Monday. ahhhh this is so frustrating! wacko.gif

I see a lot of May brides getting married on a Saturday, What are your travel arrangements? I was also thinking of maybe changing my date to Friday?

I'm a May 4th bride, as well.  We're not sure how long we're going to be able to afford to stay, so we have booked 3 nights (Thurs - Sat) for now, and we'll see how our budget looks as the date draws near to determine whether we can stay longer.  The reason we booked so early with a possibility of staying longer and having to switch rooms, is that our hotel is a small boutique one, and we wanted to be certain we'd get our first choice on their penthouses (esp. since they have just one with 4 bedrooms, a great value for housing 4 bridal party members & their +1s).  By paying for our bridal parties, we are, of course, sacrificing a longer stay for ourselves, but it's something we really want to do for them.  A few of them will be struggling just to make it to the wedding.

So far, no one has seemed bothered by the Thurs - Sat accommodations, but I guess it's hard to complain about free!  Many are hoping to stay a week, anyway, so they'll probably come down on Tuesday or Wednesday, or perhaps stay through Monday or Tuesday.  Hard to know, till it's closer, but I'm sure it'll all work itself out.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
