@Lkocelko - I saved on flowers by using fakes wherever I could that no one would actually be able to touch them.

ie: I bought silk rose petals for the aisle from Justartifacts.com. They cost $4.99 for 1800 petals. I bought two pks just in case. I'm also using silk flowers for my centrepieces. I am doing submerged flowers in a tall vase with a candle on top. If guests want to get burned they can go ahead and stick their hand in the vase. Lol...

I also contacted a few different florists and explained my budget and needs. Prices that I received began at $1500 for tropical mix flowers and eventually after some persistance I got my flowers for $500 and they're a mix of roses and orchids which is exactly what I wanted. Stick with it! There's always ways to save.

One other thing I wanted to share...I spoke with a few photographers and they all told me they hate when they're given a long list of must have shots. Apparently we should just trust our photogs because we hired them based on their work. A list of like 5 or 6 shots is ok but when we copy and paste a list of 100 must haves they get annoyed. Lol. They all said that they know brides want to see the details of ceremony so leave that off the list and actually tell them something like a shot of grandma with her son and grandson with uncle is more the type of "must have" that they are interested in.

I am only doing this because my photographer asked for a list of must have shots and grouping of friends and family members

Oh that's good then. I think the ones I talked to were annoyed because I talk alot and I was pretty much reading a list off my laptop while we were talking. They prob thought...oh great....here's another one. Hahaha! But they did say just what you said - to give them any lists of people or shots that are most important such as those. I'm prob a vendors nightmare.

Haha vendors nightmare..... Lol I think that I've annoyed the hell out of my florist because when we were working on flowers she kept wanting to use orchids, I really wanted peonies and roses and then a small purple flower and she keeps going back to orchids for the the purple. I must be the only bride that doesn't like orchids and she just didn't seem to get it lol. And I feel like my wedding coordinator hates me, maybe that's just me being paranoid, or it's just the Jamaican way of doing things by I crack jokes in emails but I feel like I'm getting no where lol

@Dazey I was wondering the same thing re speeches. I think MOH, BM, parents, and one or two special ppl on ea of our sides can say speeches. To avoid it taking up too much time I'll have speeches start during dinner so we're not sitting around waiting for them to be over.

@Danak, I will look into them for sure. Thanks for this. I saw a couple other cute prs on the site but will need to take more time and order the perfect pair from them.

@KHunt, Michaels sells a nice sand ceremony set for about $50-60. BUT, I just bought the sand from them and had an old but pretty vase at home that works perfectly. I plan to remove the label from the sand container and add a ribbon so it doesn't look so bland. If you want the budget friendly version, just buy 4 different sand colours from Michaels and one large vase (they have some urns there that would work nicely). Even winners and dollarama have great options. In fact, Dollarama has 4 vases and the larger one to pour it into. Some of them even have the sand.

SHOOT!! I also need to get clear stones for my centrepieces...add that to my list!!! ARGHH!!

@KDoyle, I fly in on the 6th. The entire ceremony is outdoors (please god keep the rain away), so it can hold all of our guests (approx 100). we have a tent as our backup but again I will be praying the rain away that week and entire day.

Oh I hear ya on that sister! I just spent a ton on decor , chairs, lighting ...and our entire ceremony, dinner and reception is outside ---so I am praying for no rain as well. I'll make a special wish for you on your day ;) We fly in on the 12th so we will likely be overlapping for a few days ;)

Hello All,

Thank you all so much for the kind words!! We are still trying to wrap our minds around things. I put this up in the Sapphire Brides thread too and thought I would make you all the same offer. Anyways, I came across these bad boys and I no long have need for them. They are placecards/escort cards that say "Welcom to the fiesta" and a place for the guests name with 2 lil blue starfish. If you are interested be the first to PM me and I'll throw them in the mail to you. I think that there's 50 or more. I hope all your planning is going ok.

Best,

Melissa

Anyone here have ceremony script advice for me? I'm struggling with the script of the ceremony sounding links we are just starting our new lives together. We have been together 15 years and have two children already. I also want to include our 3 and 4 year olds in the Sand ceremony without making it sound like they aren't ours together. I'm starting to stress out. I didn't realize I would need to do all of this myself!

I found some great stuff online, my h2b has 2 children from his past marriage so I am actually exchanging a gift with them during the ceremony and I am saying vows to them ( they will just stand there) , I love the scripting I found for this part...and found great scripting from a thread on BDW for the ceremony itself....our issue is that the minister doesn't guarantee to read it lol oh well...so on the day i will have to remember it will be a "go with flow, no problem mon" kinda day I guess lol

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
