May 2013 Brides

Recommended Posts

Welcome, ciaocarla! It took my fiancé and I many months to decide on a venue. It's a big decision! If you're considering showing up on a public beach and having a wedding, make sure to check out any permit laws. I never gave it any thought myself, until the wedding coordinator at our hotel told me we need one.

Hi Everyone,

I'm glad I found this thread, our wedding is May 11th 2013 at Fiesta Americana Condesa and with under 6 months to go I felt like I should be doing more! But it seems like I'm just as far as everyone else on this thread so I feel better! Am I the only one that gets the feeling all weddings in Mexico are basically planned the week of? I mean with the exception of photographer and DJ? I guess were just getting all the details figured out when we get down there a few days prior to the wedding such as flowers, cake and centerpieces. I'm getting the feeling this is normal. Either way, were very excited to be at the 6 month mark finally! We've been engaged for a year and a half now.

Happy planning everyone and Happy Thanksgiving! :)

Hey Sarah, welcome to BDW and congrats on your engagement! I'm glad the May 2013 thread put you at ease with you planning thus far.  Being a Mexico bride, I get what you mean about your wedding plans coming together the week of.  For me, this only applies to my resort Wedding Coordinator since I realize they coordinate a dozen+ weddings a week and dont have time to get caught up in the details months prior.  But I think every bride should have a pretty good idea of what they want well before then unless they really hate planning. All my centerpieces and decor are DIY and will be purchased by me and brought to Mexico.  I made my own crytal mongram cake topper and have selected every flower that I want in my bouquet (and I have alternates if the originals are not available).  There's no way possible I could figure out all the details the week of my wedding unless I was just picking and choosing from a list of options. But I want everything to have a personal touch and not feel like a stock wedding.

Anywho, Happy Planning!

You are definitely not the only one feeling that way!  For months, I sort of lost interest in planning, because it felt like I had nothing to do.  Now, with the wedding 6 months away, I'm talking to vendors again, but some still leave me with the impression that they'd rather talk much closer to the date.  It's so different from an at-home wedding!

Welcome, and congratulations!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
