Danak71- do you know if the flea market has those and where is it in Cancun?

did you not see these... http://www.orientaltrading.com/design-your-own-wood-maracas-a2-57_1020-12-1.fltr?Ntt=maracas

maracas will defintiely be easy to come by once in mexico, but chances are, they will all be painted.

GREAT IDEA!  My fiance and I are very simple and believe more in experiences than stuff (you should see how simple our apartment is).  So, instead, we have decided to give all of our guests the gift of an excursion: we rented a private catamaran.  We are going to give welcome letters that advise that our gift is the excursion.   The only addition I have been thinking about is also buying disposable underwater cameras and give one to each group because then ppl can use it on the catamaran, bring it home, get it developed, and have the experience to share with their family and friends.

So, long story short, I like the idea of one bigger gift.

If you don't mind me asking, what company are you going with for the catamaran and appx. how much did you get quoted? You can pm me if you want too. I just got a quote from Amstar and it was insane! Like appx. 100 a person depending on option? This is way out of our budget, I am hoping I can find something not so crazy expensive, let me know, thanks! :)

We are doing one through Island Routes - the boat fits 100 and the cost is $2,900 plus transportation costs per person.. I am not sure how it breaks down per person, we have about 60 people booked so far and are expecting under 90?  We are treating our guests so it was important to have the entire catamaran to ourselves.

We're using Induna Charters. We booked a private catamaran excursion as a gift to our guests. He's charging us $1500 for the first 25 people and $35 for each additional person. So far we have 60 people booked and are expecting no more than 70. The boat fits 100 people. He's taking us to areas for snorkeling and swimming and then to Isla Mujeres (Island of Women) where we can go shopping, sightseeing and/or lie on the beach.

The rate includes lunch onboard the catamaran as well as rum punch, beer and soft drinks. There's a marina within walking distance of my resort and he's picking us up from there so we won't have any additional transportation costs. All the other companies I contacted were going to charge us a transportation fee ($15-$17 per person) to have a bus pick us up from our resort and bring us to a different marina. They weren't willing to pick us up from the marina right near us!

Wow! That's an awesome thing to do for your guests! I love it. Price isn't bad at all either. You have a nice size group as well, your gonna have a blast!

Thanks! Fortunately because we booked a group rate we're getting a ton of amenities due to the size of our group. One of them is one free room for every 10 rooms booked. Instead of just giving you a "free room", they actually give this amount back to you as a credit. Because of the # of rooms we have booked we'll get the amount of 3 rooms for 3 nights credited back to us (minus taxes and fees of course). But since the reason we're getting this money at all is because of our families and friends supporting us, we decided to just take it and spend it on them. I think it should be a lot of fun!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
