hey ladies i just finnished my wedding day timeline to be added to our welcome packet for the OOT bags... just looking for some opinions, should i add anything? LL
Love it! Looks great. I agree that increasing the font size will make a huge difference. I did the same type of time line but at the bottom I out some attire tips, because I didn't include any attire info with our invitations. How do you think I should go about spreading the work about the attire? Including info in the welcome book is prob a silly idea right? Thoughts?

Nice!  What about the locations... or does everyone know where all the events will be taking place?

Thanks!!! I still have some minor changes to make as I'm still unsure of the exact times. As far as locations go, it's a small boutique resort so there's only the one restaurant

Thanks so much!!! I have increased the font size and it does look better! As far as your attire info I put mine in the invite. I don't think it's silly in the welcome book I would just be worried about people not packing appropriately before hand and not having formal enough clothing if that's what you are requesting. If your ok with casual then I don't think it really matters

Hey Lynn,

Steal away!

I consider mailing my items, but I donâ€t have the heart.  There are too many horror stories of shipments getting lost, or stuck in custom and never making it to resort. I would flip. And since the cost is comparable for checked luggage, I feel much better about bringing this stuff with me on the plane.

Honestly, I'm a bit OCD and made a paper lantern diagram in Powerpoint scaled to reflect the size I will use (8" 12" 16") and confirmed the sq ft of the terrace where my reception will be.  Crazy, I know, but I couldn't find a rule of thumb to go by, and I have seen many picks where the lanterns look sparse and too far apart (and I hate that).  There were also a few past brides at my resort who used paper lanterns and I was able to confirm their quantities and sizes and used that info as a gauge. I can send this to you later since itâ€s on another flash drive which I donâ€t have on me at the moment.

Ditto on the RSVP date, but I know that my max and min guest list count only varies by 8 people which isnâ€t a big deal for me when it comes to purchasing some of these décor items – qty of paper lanterns are the same weather 20 people come or 28, If I end up with extra vases/table décor then I can condense my centerpiece setup  or add more décor to the cake table or eleswhere.  I already purchased my chair sashes in both my colors  in quantities of 50 for $.15 and $.40 per sash from two previous brides on ebay. This is way more than I need but such a good deal that I couldnâ€t pass it up. I will also use them as table runners,  I just have to  strtegically use my centerpieces to hide the seams.

I think you can safely wait until  February for a confirmed guest count, but if you find great deals in the meantime, I wouldnâ€t pass them up.

Tova,

Thank you! I would love to see your diagram in Powerpoint!

We have about 50 people with their rooms reserved but my issue now is that several of those are single people that are now saying they're bringing a guest plus we were thinking there may be an additional 10 people coming (that might each bring a guest) so I'm looking at an additional 20-30 people probably. I just don't wanna start ordering and not order enough and then not be able to find more of the exact same thing at a later date, etc. I'm getting anxious though! I want to know that it's done!

Here's a pic I saw recently that I liked as well...

I want to do napkins too but FI is complaining that I am a shopping machine . Maybe a little sale will change his mind...lol

I Know!!! The resort just provides white table cloths and white napkins.. so i just told my fiance that all the white is too boring, im not doing chair sashes so the napkins were really the only way to bring some color to my tables.

Yeah, 20-30 unkown guests definitely warrants your waiting until you can firm up your guest count.

I like the centerpiece, I think someone recently posted this as inspiration too.

Back to the lanterns... I've attached my diagram, so hopefully it's useful.  I guess my biggest question is whether or not I'm forcing them.  Every inspiration pic that I really like is a tent set-up (16'+ ceiling height) and I'm afraid that my relatively low ceiling clearance of 10' won't be suitable for the look Iâ€m trying to achieve since I also donâ€t want them to hang any lower than 7†off the floor.Iâ€m considering using smaller lantern sizes, but I donâ€t know if that really matters.  And I also would prefer to go with the condensed/concentrated option since itâ€s a bit more dramatic, but then I donâ€t know if it will look like I skimped on the décor budget by not filling the entire ceiling space.  Open to your opinions on this one ladies…

Does your wedding coordinator have any pictures of receptions that used lanterns? Or are there any past brides on the Now Jade thread that used lanterns that have pics of how theirs looked?

I'm such a visual person that I literally feel like I have to see everything in advance or at least a picture in order to know whether I will like it. I have a hard time trying to conceptualize things in my head. Coupled with the fact that I'm not creative AT ALL when it comes to decorating, not a good combination for me! Which is why I'm so glad all you ladies are so I can just piggyback off of  your great ideas! :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
