First of all I love love love the color purple. Especially, deep purples. I am not doing purple for my wedding but tossed the idea around.

Secondly, are any of you lovely ladies doing DYI projects for wedding decor or centerpieces? If so what are you doing or do you have in mind? I am of course addicted to pinterest but would love to see some of the ideas you have!

Somewhere in my planning process I had the brilliant idea to have glass in my DIY centerpieces; hopefully it all makes it one piece.  Many BDW brides have taken on this challenge with great success, so Iâ€m optimistic (fingers crossed). Since we have a small guestlist (+/- 25) we decide to do a long banquet table.  I love the look of floating candles and orchids, so my centerpiece will be a medley of the pics below.  I will also provide chair sashes and table runners (sangria satin overlay over chartreuse/lime organza). I have purchase most of my items, and will complete a few mock-ups  to see how everything flows and what needs to be tweaked. I will also have various sized paper lantern hanging from the ceiling.

Depending on much color i end up with on my table and in my centerpieces, will determine if I have chartreuse lanterns or white.  The paper lanterns will also be lit.

Im not sure just how much im bringing down... depends on the florist and their prices but if they give me what i want for $65 or less a table ill just go through them seeing as how there are only 4 tables id rather pay then have the hassle of hauling it down. I will be bringing table runners through as well as the table numbers but i havent started that DIY yet. im also thinking of bringing lanterns or i might bring the candles. as far as flowers go im thinking something like this

I want 4 low tin buckets filled with peonies and hydrangeas  spreadout across the table on the burlap runner. then i might scatter around votives with the center of tge table being a vintage lantern with a candle and an old picture frame with the table number

Tova I LOVE your inspiration pics...I might steal some to add to my pinterest board if you don't mind since we have some similar colors. I'm definitely thinking about glass and I'm shipping my stuff down ahead of time so I'm really hoping it all gets there in one piece! I have the same dilemma about whether to do white or purple lanterns. I'm also confused about how many lanterns I'll need. Is there any rule as far as how many per sq ft of space, etc.?

I haven't purchased anything yet because I'm still waiting to see how many people we'll have. My invitations are out but my RSVP date isn't until Feb. 1. I'm hoping everyone doesn't wait until then to send theirs back (they're slowly coming in now one by one LOL). Do you think Feb. is too late to start buying stuff if I at least know exactly what I'm going to buy and just am waiting on quantity?

Hey Lynn,

Steal away!

I consider mailing my items, but I donâ€t have the heart.  There are too many horror stories of shipments getting lost, or stuck in custom and never making it to resort. I would flip. And since the cost is comparable for checked luggage, I feel much better about bringing this stuff with me on the plane.

Honestly, I'm a bit OCD and made a paper lantern diagram in Powerpoint scaled to reflect the size I will use (8" 12" 16") and confirmed the sq ft of the terrace where my reception will be.  Crazy, I know, but I couldn't find a rule of thumb to go by, and I have seen many picks where the lanterns look sparse and too far apart (and I hate that).  There were also a few past brides at my resort who used paper lanterns and I was able to confirm their quantities and sizes and used that info as a gauge. I can send this to you later since itâ€s on another flash drive which I donâ€t have on me at the moment.

Ditto on the RSVP date, but I know that my max and min guest list count only varies by 8 people which isnâ€t a big deal for me when it comes to purchasing some of these décor items – qty of paper lanterns are the same weather 20 people come or 28, If I end up with extra vases/table décor then I can condense my centerpiece setup  or add more décor to the cake table or eleswhere.  I already purchased my chair sashes in both my colors  in quantities of 50 for $.15 and $.40 per sash from two previous brides on ebay. This is way more than I need but such a good deal that I couldnâ€t pass it up. I will also use them as table runners,  I just have to  strtegically use my centerpieces to hide the seams.

I think you can safely wait until  February for a confirmed guest count, but if you find great deals in the meantime, I wouldnâ€t pass them up.

Ooohh, I like it!  I can't recall if you created a logo with your names.  If so, then it may be nice to add, if not then maybe considering increasing the font point size for "Welcome to Our Wedding".  Also, maybe add a 1 line thank blurb at the bottom... Thank you for joing us on our special day

Thanks Choco!!! I did create a monogram but have yet to actually use it and i guess i dont want to start now...

good idea on the thank you!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
