May 2013 Brides

We did get travel insurance because while we felt like there was nothing that could prevent us from getting married on May 4, we're both VERY family oriented. A couple years back I lost a very close family member unexpectedly and it shook my entire family. I'm praying that nothing tragic happens to prevent us from getting married on the day we planned; however if either of us were dealing with something like that, we knew we would postpone. We purchased the insurance and advised all of our guests to as well.

Our travel insurance was $80.. We didn't get it though. We got the insurance that covers us medically though, and all of my guests got the cancel for any reason insurance. As for the air prices... We booked ours through our ta when we booked our trip. My ta and others have told me that prices will continue to rise and it is best to book air early, not the other way around. I do know some ladies that have had luck getting great prices at the last min... But I liked the idea of a package deal, including air, van,and resort all in one bundle. Takes some of the trouble out of the way for my guests, and also gets a package rate, which was significantly cheaper.

We purchased and advised our guests to purchase Travel Insurance. I was one of the customers burned years ago when Canada 3000 went out of business abruptly months before our trip. We did get our money back because we purchased travel insurance but it took about a year.  It's better to be on the safe side just in case.

I was wondering where everyone picked out their bridesmaids dresses from. I am really looking for turquoise or Tiffany blue, but haven't found it. I went to Davids Bridal and Alfred Angelo and no turquoise or Tiffany. Alfred Angelo even has a color called blue box which they refered to as Tiffany blue but it's not. I'm torn between continuing to search or just changing my colors. I don't want my bridesmaids to have to spend too much which is why I chose those 2 places to look. I'm getting so frustrated and was wondering what you ladies think.

Dessy.  They are a little pricey but they have a lot of colors and styles.

I wanted my bridesmaids in all white so I did a search on Google for white bridesmaid dresses. I looked at all the images that came up and fell in love with some white Bari Jay dresses I found. I don't know that I would necessarily have thought of Bari Jay had I not seen those dresses as my inspiration. Not sure if that helps or not but that's how I found mine. If these are the colors you really want I would say dont change colors but maybe keep looking for styles you like and then check to see which designers have similar styles in the colors you chose. Good luck in your search!

Emily, We are in the same boat! My colors are Tiffany blue and orange and I couldn't find them anywhere! Dessy has them though, and some other key designers.nobody in my area had swatches though which I really needed cause I've already bought linens ect. I'll get the names of the other designers though for you. But check it out.. Since we couldn't find them anywhere. We just bought a white dress off amazon and are dying it ...ahhhhh! So worried about how it will come out but my BM is not. The amazon seller is ever pretty. Check them out. They have cute dresses, great reviews, and great prices(under 100) :)

i feel like I am falling behind again!  I love the passport, and was debating not doing it but I think you motivated me to get on that!  How did you bind them all together?  Can you send me a link to the $15 download?  Where did you get the paper?

My FI grandpa just passed :(  He was one of the only people who booked his trip.  Its been a rough last week for us.

My sister is pregnant and going CRAZY!  I feel like I don't even wait her to be my MOH.  Arggg...

Next on my list is getting Bridesmaid dresses, invites and buying tickets.  I don't know where to find BM dresses.  I would like to avoid David's bridal if I can.  I was thinking maybe looking at etsy.  We are thinking of going to Belize for a few days after we get married.  But, I found out we would have to fly back to the US and then back out to Belize.  Weird. Not sure if its worth it.

I hope I am not on too much of a rant, but you ladies seem to always understand!  Less than 200 days~

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
