that sounds like fun!  I would want to go to one but not organize one :) Cool tradition
It is a ton of fun but super stressful. Between the hall, liquor, dj, food and other little things it cost almost $5000 to put on the social. You try to make that money by selling the tickets. So if you don't sell enough tickets and not many people show up you can lose money. But in the other hand if you sell lots of tickets and tons of people show up and they all get really drunk and spend alot of money on raffle tickets you can make alot of money. I don't really care about making alot of money I just don't want to lose

ah- scratch my previous post- you're referring to a stag n doe.  We are also having one, but at the legion, so we don't need a licence or to supply the booze.  They also have the craps table and black jack and stuff like that.  We are asking each person in the wedding party to contribute one (decent) prize for a raffle table, and then we're having one big door prize, selling tickets etc. and the legion gives us a cut from the booze...I have been to dozens over the years.  So much fun!

FI and I finally booked our flights to Grand Cayman.  We have been watching the price for months now and of course, the day we decide to buy tickets, the price went up $10 lol  Not a big jump, but still annoying.  We are flying US Airways which means we have to pay for each bag checked to the Caribbean (BOOOO!)  I always liked that traveling overseas meant no checked bag fees, but for this airline the Caribbean doesn't  count.  Oh well, just happy to get that all done. Now we have to book rental car and flights for our "mini-moon" to Cayman Brac but flights for that are not available yet.

Uhura...congrats on booking airfare, thats a big weight to be lifted!! How much did you guys spend? I am still waiting for Airtran to release prices for May and hoping that will impact things a bit. We have a son who would have just turned 2 and I cant express my Grrrrr for having to purchase a $500 ticket for him, ^*@^*@. Who will sit on my lap the whole time.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
