She also didnt think she should have to pay me back for teh deposit on the room! She said it was because of money.... which i dont want to argue with. Only now they are starting a whole bunch of renos on their house and she just told me they are planning a trip to toronto for the same time as my wedding! I know toronto isnt as expensive but still last minute planning to toronto just 7 months out or planning to jamaica a year and 4 months out? seems she should have been able to make it work... she just doesnt want to. Then she goes on to say that she will still help with anything i need here at home, but now shes always too busy to talk to me.

There comes a certain point in any relationship, friends/family/intimate, where you have to ask yourself why keep giving 100% if the other person only gives less than half and is always making excuses. You can only pour so much of your heart and soul into these deadend friendships. Sorry  for the hurtfullness she caused you but it sounds like you have lots more loving friends and family!!

I had to tell a girl I'm sort of friends with that shes not invited even though she assumed it and told everyone we mutually know that she is going. I've literally had it all!! I'm down a bridesmaid too but not her fault as her and her husband are having major issues going on. I've cried over stupid crap a lot much but I'm over now, it's the wedding we want and I'm at the point where I barely even care who goes!! :) So I'm glad we can all be here for each other to commiserate!

Honestly, I think we're probably all there too! Of course I want people to celebrate with us but in the end it's about the journey I take with my FH. And I wouldn't know what to do without all you girls!!

Uhura: April...May...it's all the same! We love having new people and ideas. Besides, us May brides are going to need your advice on the do's and don'ts of traveling with a dress, and organization of guests at the location, and so on! Welcome!

MissBubbles: You atleast have your act together. Your STD, Invites, and engagment pics are done. We don't even take our e pics till next sat, we wanted the fall foliage. Oh well, I agree with Choco I'm no one's babysitter I have enough to deal with so either  your in or your out.

Wow. Identical situations dazey. My moh did this. It came time to buy the dress and excuses started being made. Now she never answers my calls. She never said she wasn't gong on the trip, but she is no longer my moh, and is still stringing me along about maybe coming on the trip. It's crazy... But your right. We're all seeing the true colors of the ones we thought were our best friends.

Thanks for the welcome ladies.

I do have another perspective with regard to guests booking early.  I think one thing is that people tend to want to book both hotel and flights at the same time and right now, this far out, flights are expensive or you actually might get a better deal later.  In fact, optimally, it's good to get flights 3 to 4 months out.  I haven't even booked our flights yet. When we travel internationally, we almost never book more than 3 months out.    I do think people should be able to just go ahead and book their accommodations though if they know they are going. In my case, the deposit is refundable!  So they have nothing to lose by committing early but again, they may be scared of the flight prices right now (they will drop!)  and are not willing to commit this far out or at least separate the two and wait to book flights.  Also in my case, they have not received invitations yet.  I have been back and forth about when to send them but decided that mid-November will work with a deadline of mid-January.  My headcount isn't due to my venue until mid-February.

Ladies, don't sweat it with the flaky folks in your lives. I look at this as a good opportunity to weed out those folks moving forward into your new lives as married women.  In life, people will come and go and that's just the way it is.  Even family can't always be counted on and may need to be removed from your lives. So be it.  Just focus on those folks who are supportive and will be there for you and your FI and everything will fall into place. (okay that's what I keep telling myself lol) But really, that thought is keeping me in line at the moment. Get back to me when RSVP's are due :)

Flight prices are definitely scary at the moment and I agree that gas prices will drop, especially with labor day passing and the elections coming up.  The 3 to 4 month rule seems to be accurate for domestic travel, but I thought the window for internationsl is about 5-7 months out which seems to be accuraute with my previous international trip experiences.  But I'm, sure there are a lot of factors to consider as well.  I've been tracking prices like crazy for 5 different departing cities.  Oddly engough some prices have already dropped, while others departing cities have gone up... weird.

Now I'm worried that we booked to early... :o( I can't seem to remember what exactly we paid for flights. I'll have to go look, but the prices seemed low. We are staying 8 nights, our total was 3011.00 for accomodations, flights, and transfers. We booked back in June, I believe.

If they seemed low, than I'm sure you got a fare price. Don't torture yourself with things that are out of your control. I wish we could complete our airfare, it would be one less thing to think about. We're pretty nervous for Justin's family, they have abnormally espensive airfare rates at $700 per person round trip...Yikes!

My family is flying out of BHM and $700 is what my family will have to pay as well!! :o( I'm hoping it goes down though.

Flying out of ATL is much cheaper.. I'm wanting to say we got our flights for $400. I'm trying to find my receipts.

One of my guests told me her quote for our DW from Tuesday-Sunday with airfare is 2300-2400. Does this seem right? I've never traveled before.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
