I'm with you ChocoTaco7568 I got my dress really fast! Ordered it last month and it as the second dress I tried on! Should be here by the holidays! I will say that I wanted to maybe shed a few pounds before I went but thought what the hell I'll pay more for alterations! I do feel that I'm just finding things to work on because I don't have any idea what the number of guests will be! I've been putting ideas together to be better prepared later! I started working on my invites (passport with a boarding pass RSVP all DIY) that has been a lot of work haha! So question for you ladies! I'm torn with when to send them....should I send them in Nov with a Feb RSVP? Or should I wait till Jan 2nd to send the with a Feb RSVP? Info to keep in mind....I sent save the dates out in July and they referred guests to the website that said "small deposit to travel agent by oct 1st to secure your spot". What do you think? Would love your input!

I sent our Save the Dates at the end of June.. I've noticed many ladies have already mailed their invites, so I started feeling behind. I'm hoping to get mine printed and in the mail by no later than the middle of September with my RSVP return date of February 28th.

I sent our Save the Dates at the beginning of May, pretty quickly after we got engaged. I was trying to give people as close to a year as possible for planning and saving. My brother got married at Excellence Resort in Punta Cana a couple of years ago and saving for that trip with the 6 months notice we got was a challenge! LOL

My passport invitations and boarding pass RSVP card are being designed now and should be finished by next week. My goal is to send the invitations out by the end of August with an RSVP date being the end of January. That should give me enough time to get the remaining items in the Wedding suite designed (door hangers, menus, wedding timeline, welcome letter, welcome card, favor tags, etc.) Although many of the items for the OOT bags will be bought when we get to Mexico, there are still several things I'm planning to purchase here from Amazon, Dollar Tree, etc. and need a more firm head count.

I am soo ready to get back to the DIY projects and OOT bags!!  I can't wait til we get a good head count which seems like it will be forever from now. I guess as far as the paper DIY's we can go ahead and design those and then just print as many as we need when the time comes. :o)   What type of items do you plan to purchase while in Mexico? That is a great idea!

That's what I'm doing now is having my graphic design person design all the pieces and then once I get a firm number I can send them to the printer; since I don't need most of these items until we're ready to assemble the OOT bags.

We're planning to purchase the actual bags there (we have 50 people that have booked with the travel agent and another 10 we're expecting to) so I think it will be cheaper to haggle with the folks at the flea markets down there as opposed to buying off Discountmugs.com or killing myself searching around for affordable bags! LOL I'd like to get bags people might actually use again and the ones that I've seen here that I liked were more than I wanted to pay for 60 of them. I'm hoping to get some bags that say "Cancun" or "Mexico" on them.

We're also wanting to get some small bottles of tequila that folks can have in their rooms (we might do one per couple, not each bag), throw in a little recipe book with tequila drink recipes, and then any other items that are representative of Mexico...not really sure yet will just depend on what we see. We're going down about a week before the wedding and staying at a hotel in the Hotel Zone (non all-inclusive) for 4 nights and then we're going to check into the Excellence 3 days before the wedding. There are like 3 different flea markets not far from the Hotel Zone that I've heard brides have gotten great things from for their bags.

My fiance, mom, one of my bridesmaids and one of my hostesses are all coming with me when I go early...that way we can shop for things to put in the bags and then assemble the bags down there.

I really love the idea of adding tequila in the bags! I might have to steal that idea! We are getting there 4 days before the wedding and we will be right next to 5th ave shopping in playa del carmen! So it might be easy for us to do that too! Love the ideas of having a little bit of Mexico in the oot bags!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
