Hmm, I thought I posted a link in this thread, but I guess not. These are a 95% accurate representation of what the final invites looked like:

Planning on sending formal invites in November with a reply date in February. I think 6 and 3 months is a good amount of time since people already have the save the dates 9 months out.

I was just curious when you were planning on sending them out. (Since we sent out or STD about the same time, and we are getting married the same week.) I think Nov and Feb is a good time frame!

I was not considering doing invitations at all because the wedding is only 8 months away and I don't have a guest list done up because we were planning the traditional wedding at home and would have had lots of time to doit that way had we stuck to the traditional wedding at home. I opened a wedding web page for everyone to check out details of the wedding and I put the web address on Facebook with an RSVP section if they want tomattend. I am not doing invitations but after seeing your posts, I am wondering if I am making the right decision. Smehow I did not think they were necessary for a wedding away and we did decide late in the game we were going away to get married so notice is not really an option now We don't even have invitations done to order so how long does the process take to get them ordered and sent out? I'm thinking I will only have a few months left by the time they are mailed and that is by no means enough time to give notice for a destination wedding. Oh well. Facebook will have to do. Regarding family being indecisive and somewhat upset about going away, I am the only girl in a family of 5 in my adoptive family and in my bio family, I am youngest of 6 but only one brother from my adoptive family can come.the rest will not be attending. My mom ( adopted) is disappointed we are going away because she said she did not picture her only girl doing her wedding day this way but she said its up to me but she said " know this, know no one will get there". Little guilt trip but I dealt with it and continued on withmy decision. is hard going away but I feel it is the right decision for us. I'm over the guilt. The invites on face book are open invitations to everyone. All are invited so that leaves no one out. I had a guest list of 700 between all my family's and that was only handful of friends, a few coworkers and first cousins, a few aunts and immediate family so what a nightmare that was! So instead of offending everyone who I was forced to cut off the list, we decided to go away instead. Problem solved. So far, we have 29 expressing an interest so far. I am really excited now that the family issues and guest list is not a factor. Can't wait.. Any more majestic elegance brides out there getting married in punta Cana the week of April 22-30, 2013? It would be great to get together and have a girls night out before the wedding. What a blast a combined bachelorette party we could have. I have already found two brides getting married the same week on the majestic elegance group on Facebook. Look it up..it's an awesome site..

we were also on the fence about formal invitations... but my mom talked me into it saying not everyone is as "tech savvy" as we are.  our engagement party invites AND our STD's had our wedding website on them.  we have a ton of travel information on the website and we have also send 2 emails explaining the travel booking process to our guests.  but, a lot of our older relatives do not have email access/don't understand the whole email thing and even though they might not be making the trip we wanted to have a paper invitation to send to them so they could feel a part of the wedding.

for our invitations, we are doing a "z-fold" which is like an accordian-style.  the front is the actual wedding invitation, the middle is a design and the last page tells about travel information, how to contact our travel agent, what there is to do in jamaica, the wedding week events and how to get to our website.  the back is also designed as a filler with a "how-to-speak jamaican" lesson.  we think the are informative but don't have TOO much information - very to the point - and they add a little more in terms of details than what we have on the website and what has been in our emails.

we sent out our save-the-dates in mid-June and i am hoping to mail the invitations mid-september or early october.  we just finished designing our wedding suite - invites, luggage tags, welcome letters, door hangers, table numbers, escort cards, bridal shower invites (because it DRIVES ME CRAZY when bridal shower invites do not match the wedding at all), OOT tote bags and a few other things.  my FI is a graphic designer and owns an apparel printing business so we will be making our own OOT bags thanks to our fabulous wholesale hookups and will have business associates do all of the paper printing.

i think the decision of formal invitations could go either way, depending on your guest list.  i do think it's nice to get a card in the mail though and have something to put on your fridge as a reminder of your upcoming AMAZING vacation as oppose to mass emails.

Hey, everyone!  It's been a while since I've logged on.  After booking our venue & photographer, sending out save-the-dates, and choosing a dress, I felt like I'd run out of things to do.  I know there is plenty left on the agenda, but it all seems dependent on how many people are coming, or dependent on how our budget works out, on account of how many people are coming... if I'm feeding only 15 people, I can afford things I won't be able to buy if I need to feed 35 people, you know?

Has anyone else experienced a dip in enthusiasm on the planning front?  I'm excited as ever for the wedding and the marriage, but the planning part of it, I guess I ran out of steam on.  I'm getting back into the swing of things lately, though.  Some friends of ours who are in the wedding booked their flight, so it renewed my excitement and got me on the ball with flights, too.  It feels great to have that out of the way!

We're flying out late night on the 1st, figuring it's better to arrive tired and sleep on the beach on the 2nd, than to fly out in the morning on the 2nd and arrive so late that night that we can't enjoy the sun and sand till the next day, the 3rd.  Seeing as the wedding is on the 4th, I don't want our first day there be the day before the wedding.  Too stressful!

Good morning Ladies,

Sounds like you've all been busy while I've been offline! It's been awhile since I've posted! I got so much done in April when we first got engaged that then I had nothing left to do for a while! LOL

But I'm so excited because we started out planning to use an outside photographer in Mexico, then decided on the resort photographer because it was cheaper although we didn't like his work as well, and now I'm happy to say as of yesterday we've been able to negotiate with a photographer here in Atlanta for her and an assistant to come with us and shoot not just the wedding day but also the Welcome Reception, Catamaran Excursion, and our Recovery Brunch the day after for less than what I would have paid the resort photographer! She did my girlfriend's wedding in September and her work is amazing! She was doing our engagement pics so we really wanted the same person that did our engagement session to shoot the wedding.

We're doing invitations as well. I don't know if it's necessarily needed since we sent our STD's in May and about 50 people have already booked their rooms, but for the family members that can't come I think it will be something nice for them outside of anything online they've received.

We're doing passport invitations with a boarding pass RSVP card. My girlfriend (an amazing graphics design person) is in the process of working on them as well as the rest of the the wedding suite (welcome letter, welcome card, weekend timeline, door hanger, programs, etc.) I'll post pics when she's finished.

We haven't booked airfare yet because we're waiting on Airtran to post their fares in September. My plan is to purchase our seats on Airtran and then check in 24 hours before and upgrade us to Business Class for like $99. Much cheaper than booking a Biz Class seat to begin with. Hopefully that works! LOL

I just started buying stuff for our OOT bags so that's been exciting seeing all the packages come in...even if they are only Advil and Shout! LOL

Well, back to work I go...happy planning ladies! By the way, anyone getting married at Excellence Playa Mujeres weekend of May 4, 2013?

Not getting married there, but I see we're date twins!  I see you're an Atlanta gal, too, which is where I grew up. cheers.gif

I suffered the same, planning so much in my first month that I was out of things to do really quickly.  There's more to come, but most has to wait till we have a better idea of who all is coming.

Cherany I've been wondering where you've been... Glad to see your name pop back up!

While I wouldn't say that I've lost enthusiasm for planning I really haven't been doing much, primarily becasue I did so much on the front end that I end up way ahead of the curve and everything else left is dependent on final guest count. But I'vee gotten back in the swing of working out again which has been awesome and makes me feel good to start gaining back my strength and physique!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
