I FINALLY finished my STD'S!!!!  People are loving the boarding pass.  Now, whats the next step?  Dress shopping?  When are you ladies sending out formal invites?

Next week! :) A little early for formal invites but we heard the fuel surcharge might be going up so we want to start getting people booked.

[/queote] Woohoo! Are you going to post a pics of your STDs? Our invites are going out by the end of the month or beginning of July. We want our guests to get the formal invite around 10 months out. You should definitely start dress shopping in the next couple of months. Do you have any styles in mind?

I'm sending out formal invitation next week too.  Our group rate (which is really great) is only good for 90 days.  So I want to give everyone lots of notice to pay their deposits.  It is hard to plan vacations this far in advance for guests though, but everything gets booked up so fast ... don't really feel like I had a choice!

That's the same with ours! Are you going through Sunwing? I feel the same way, I don't think people think about vacations this far in advance usually. Do you mind me asking where you're staying and what your quote was?

We are staying at the Majestic Elegance - in Punta Cana.  Our travel agent is through Marlin Travel (in Walmart) and we got a group rate for $1380 for a 7 night stay.  When I look up the price on redtag.ca it is going for $1600ish.  So we really lucked out.  Tour operator is Transat Vacations, which I have always liked flying with.

That's an amazing price! I've heard good things about ME. I have a friend that went to a wedding at Majestic Colonial and she said that the Elegance side was gorgeous. Our price is $1530 pp for Dreams PB but if we have 30 people book the price will drop to $1380 so fingers crossed!

Sorry to hear of your loss, Shay.

I must have been a eager with the dress shopping, since it seems that most of you are waiting until the fall to even start.  I can't wait to see what dresses ultimately steal your hearts.

I can't believe how on top of things you ladies are. I feel like a slacker lol

I am having a hard time getting organized, I am done the website, picked our colour theme, and have our date booked but that's it. There's been a lot going on for me lately so I am having a hard time focusing on the wedding.  I have designed some diy stuff but I am having a hard time deciding which route to go. I am thinking magnets for std but I can't decide between passports or boarding passes for the invites.

We have also thought about a symbolic ceremony but worry less people would come if they knew and we only have around 25 as it is now. I know we could just not tell most people but the ones that knew, I think it would ruin the experience for and they may not come.

Seems like your on the right path!.. For me choosing the destination was the toughest!.. As far as symbolic ceremony.. We are going this route. I told my mom and she understands and agrees it is the best route to go but not tell anyone. On the other hand my FI's mom flipped!.. she was not happy, but after looking into the requirements for a civil, my FI and I agree that Symbolic was the route to go. We will not tell anyone it's symbolic bc we too feel they would not see it as holding as much meaning. but to us, that will be the day we say our vows and become husband and wife. and that will forever be our anniversary date.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
