May 2013 Brides

Recommended Posts

I too have read many pros and cons of photography before and after the ceremony. Before I was totally set on him not seeing me until I walk down the isle. but then I saw some really awesome videos of the bride and groom meeting just before the wedding and the videographer and photographer catching those moments.. I just think it's something that we would want share together and be able to get our nervous jitters out because my FI and I are both pretty nervous individuals. And then after the ceremony I want to have plenty of time for pictures of all our families and some while the sun is setting as our guests head to dinner.  I made change my mind again in a few months, but so far this is my plan.

I sooo badly want to!!!.. Trying to find a great photog and videog in a good price range.

Corresfilms, recommended by Majestic Elegance does amazing videos and pictures!.. However Elegance will only allow him to do videos at the resort.. Not sure why but Diego responded to me and said he could only do video because they had another preferred person for pictures, but he recommended Phil Steingard..

If I go with seperate videogs and photogs it's going to put us at about 4k for both and that doesn't seem reasonable.. So we are still looking.

We are doing photos afterwards.  My FI is set on staying apart the night before, and having our eyes first meet at the alter.  I like the idea of seeing each other first and having a moment, but I am happy to share that moment with my friends and family that have traveled to see us.  One of the only traditions we are doing! Plus, we are also getting married at 5pm.   I would like to have some sunset photos with my "husband." Bummed that we will miss part of cocktail hour but I feel like it is always that way for brides and grooms.  I am hoping to arrange some cocktails on the beach- i think it would be a great photo idea.gif

As of now, my ceremony will commence at 5:00pm, cocktail hour at 6:00pm and dinner reception at 7:00pm. The sun sets in the Riviera Maya around 7:20pm in the month of May and I really want to capitalize on getting great newlywed shots during this time, I might even push my timeline back by 30 min.  So as of right now,  Iâ€m planning on taking newlywed shots after the ceremony, during the cocktail hour, but I hate that my guest will be waiting around for us and we donâ€t even get to enjoy our own cocktail hour. On the flip side, I love the idea of the big reveal when I walk down the aisle and my Fi sees me for the first time.  And I donâ€t necessarily want to take newlywed pics at 3:30pm when the sun is strongest and Iâ€m in my silk wedding dress on the brink of sweating my tushy off. Thoughts, comments, suggestions….Iâ€m all ears.

Thanks for all the feedback ladies. It seems like most of you will have or want  a private ‘First Look†shoot and Newlywed shoot, which makes sense.  So I was playing around with my wedding photo coverage timeline and came up with the following. I also pushed everything back by 30 minutes to factor in the sunset but Iâ€m waiting to hear back from my Photographer for his input. If he says that the 30 minutes wonâ€t make a difference, than the ceremony will start at 5:00pm. And I think weâ€ll stick around for the first 10-15 minutes of the happy hour before leaving our guests to take newlywed photos. Here goes:

4:00pm – 4:45pm Getting ready photos

4:45pm – 5:15pm The First Look  and pre-ceremony photos (Bride and Groom Only)

5:30pm – 6:00pm Ceremony

6:00pm – 6:30pm Congratulations toast / group and family photos

6:30pm – 7:30pm Cocktail hour/newlywed photos

7:30pm – 9:00pm Dinner reception coverage (Toasts from BM, MOH, Parents; first dance; cake cutting)

As of now, Iâ€m only contracting my photographer for 5 hours, but adding the ‘First Look†photos has taken away from my ‘Getting Ready†photos and Iâ€m worried that Iâ€m not giving myself enough time up front and I donâ€t want to feel rushed.  Do you think I need to add another hour of coverage or should this be sufficient? I donâ€t really want to pay for the extra hour unless itâ€s worth it.

Great timeline! thanks for sharing!!..

How much is an extra hour, just in case?

How many people are you having in attendance?

I think 30 minutes should be a suffice amount of time for each category.

As far as getting ready you could go ahead and have your hair and make-up done and have the photog make posed pictures (if that makes sense) like pretending to apply powder with a brush, etc. Just in case. but surely 45 minutes should be plenty of time for getting pics.

Let us know what the photog comes back and says about the time limits.

Hey Kristie, Welcome to BDW and the May 2013 thread!

I definitely use to spend countless hours looking at wedding dresses.  I knew exactly what I wanted and thought it would make things easier, but it was definitely a full time job trying to find it. In the end two dresses stole my heart both of which I specifically had my local boutique bring in, but one would have broken my dress budget which made the decision easier ( I would still be debating about which dress to choose). 900x900px-LL-60400abc_Photo07281600.jpg

Good luck with your dress search, what's your criteria so far?

Thatâ€s what I assumed, just looking for reassurance.  I know some couples contract their photographer for 8-10 hours which makes me instantly feel like Iâ€m missing something.  But then again, I am having a small scale wedding +/- 25 guests, no DJ etc.

Either way, Iâ€ll let you know what feedback I get from my photographer regarding the timeline.

Hi Ladies,

I am getting married on May 10, 2013 in the Chapel at the Gran Caribe Real in Cancun. I actually just returned from a vacation to Cancun which got me even more excited!

So far we have booked our date, purchased out Save the Dates (are hoping to send them out his weekend), bought my dress, did a site visit/menu tasting, booked our photographer (Ivan Luckie) and enlisted a travel agent.  We also started our wedding website which I will list below.

We originally were booking for Sat May 11th, but decided to go with Fri the 10th to give people the option to leave on Saturday or Sunday.  That being said my whole family is planning on staying mid week through midweek, but we have some frends who could only do a long weekend.

I feel like we should be doing more but I'm not quite sure what!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
