Iberostar Grand Rose Hall 2012 Brides!!! :-)

Recommended Posts

I will not have a videographer, only a photographer; Merrick Cousley. I am under the impression photographer/ videographers are the only vendors you can choose, you will need to purchase a $100 day pass for them.

You two are very organized!

Kendra, you can have a beach side reception dinner.  I believe it's an extra $50-70 per person on TOP of the Port Maria rental (pretty pricey).  It's in the 2012 wedding prices or detail sheet that Janielle should have sent you initially.

KPalamo, It's odd that Janielle gave you a list of photographers to use.  She only told me about the hotel photographer (which is not on your list) and I ended up hiring someone on my own, Brian Nejedley.  I almost hired Merrick Cousley, whose work also looks awesome.  But yes, their new rules indicate that this is the only outside vendor that you can choose.  I don't think they'll let you hire an outside DJ either (at least I know another bride had to cancel DJ Kevan because the Grand wouldn't allow him).

For your cocktail hour, are you going to have you guests hang out on the beach for 2 hours before the reception opens?  I'm still trying to decide what to do with my guests.  My wedding is at 5:30, also on the "private" beach.  We're not organizing a cocktail hour (besides the champagne toast that comes iwth the package).  But I think I'm going to direct them to one of the hotel bars for an hour.

I've verified with them and I cant have a beach reception w/o 30 people present. Which is okay, I guess, it saves money ;) Janielle also sent me the list of photographers they contract with, I just wasn't moved by most of them. Sungold looked awesome but I thought they were a bit pricey for what I wanted. So...do I need to request this "private" beach or is this the location for all the beach weddings?

The private beach is one of their standard ceremony locations. It's further down the beach (and not directly in front of the pool and beach loungers). You can request it when you return your detail sheet or you can request it when you get there.

Hi Leah,

Yes, I will have my guests hang out at the beach for cocktail hour from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM while I am getting my pictures taken. After the cocktail hour, we will head over to the reception and have it from 7PM to 11PM.

I am about to book the videographer and photographer :-) I am going with Ronald from Sungold and Roxroy for the videographer. Gosh!!! Prices are so expensive but what can I do :( I had family members get married in Mexico and DR and they paid half of what I am paying. For five hours, I am paying 2,620 dollars for both. Is that how much you ladies are paying? I am just shocked compared to the prices in DR and Mexico. Let me know if this is normal for Jamiaca.

Thanks Ladies!!! :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
