Hotel Marina El Cid BRIDES

Recommended Posts

Hi Jasmine and Bethany!

First off, congratulations to you both on your engagement and upcoming weddings!

My fiance and I are newly engaged, and have decided on a destination wedding.  We are in the very early stages of planning - trying to pick the resort! :)  I am seriously contemplating the El Cid, but so not sure yet!  What made you both decide to go with El Cid?  I personally love that it's a smaller resort, and I really like the idea of getting married on the jetty.  I find the information on the website somewhat confusing, and there aren't many reviews of this resort on this website.

Any information you gals could provide would be greatly appreciated!

Happy planning!

Hi there!

Congratulations!!!

There really isn't much information about wedding at the El Cid out there... I know it can be frustrating!!!

I visited the Now Jade resort last February, which is pretty much right next to the Marina El Cid.

First off, I love the area of Puerto Morelos. It is more secluded and more green than Cancun, which I absolutely love. The beach is beautiful, and the water is gorgeous.

When attempting to find a resort for the wedding, we almost went with Now Jade because we were familiar with it, but the pricing for the Marina El Cid came in better. The El Cid looks beautiful and our wedding planner/travel agent recommended it. She did a site visit recently and took many photos. The resort has a spanish feel to it, but yet it is modern looking, which seems to be hard to find in other resorts. We were looking for a family friendly resort for ours, as children are attending our wedding. We loved the main pool area... it looks like it would be a blast! The reviews for food seem to be good.

Our main needs when choosing a resort were:

Had to have nice, updated rooms... preferably with jacuzzi and ocean views

Had to have a gazebo, or other option besides a beach wedding

The food had to be good

Had to have a nice beach

Had to have decent pricing

Had to be south of Cancun

This resort met all of these needs... and I'm really happy we went with it. I am glad we are trying a new resort instead of going to one we have already been to... and I really like the look of this resort. I think it will make for some nice photos too :)

The jetty is definitely pretty cool. It is quite long compared to others, and looked awesome in person.

The wedding coordinator is helpful in answering questions. I am still trying to get a lot planned, but if I can help you in any way, let me know. I might have some answers. Any specific questions?

Once again, Congratulations!!

Jasmine

Hi ladies, Just wanted to update you on my planning. We have decided to do everything on the beach - ceremony, cocktail hour, reception. It just made the most sense given we will only have about 25-30 guests. Deyanira recently sent me the options for the centerpieces so if any of you need that you can email me at msgildner@gmail.com. What are you doing for centerpieces? Buying them from the hotel? Bringing things? I am getting really excited! Bethany

Hi Everyone,

My fiance and I are planning a wedding at Hotel Marina El Cid in May 2013. I'm so excited to have found this thread! All we have done so far is sign our group contract through our travel agent and had our group start booking. I am now hoping to get started on the wedding planning part :) How far in advance did you all start planning? I feel like I don't know where to even start. Any information about options and venues, etc. or any pictures would be much appreciated! Congratulations to you all on your upcoming weddings!

Hi there,

I was so thrilled to find this thread for this resort as there is not alot of information on the website.  Will be great to connect with other brides!  Our wedding is booked for 11/12/13 (november of next year) and I too was wondering what we were going to do about center pieces, I would love it if you could email me the center piece options that Deyanira sent you ( a-mcbride@hotmail.com)  Are you bringing your own or using ones from the hotel?

Ashley

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
