Punta Cana Wedding - Type of Dress?

Recommended Posts

Hey Ladies - Im just curious what fabric is your wedding dress. I had orginally wanted Organza b/c I thought it would be lighter/airier than satin, but I tried on a satin dress this weekend and I love it! Do you think it will be to hot/humid for a satin dress in December? I wasnt expecting to try on Satin and did on a whim and now I cant get it out of my head! Would I be crazy to get a Satin dress?
What do you think?

I say go with what you love.  I've never been to DR, but from what I have seen in other brides videos, it does seem breezier a bit cooler Dec-Feb than in the summer.

With that being said, I am getting married at the end of June which is one of the hotter months and my dress is Satin and Organza..and a little heavy.  I am fully aware that I will probably be hot... I have accepted and embraced that because I am absolutely in Love with my dress and can't imagine getting married in anything else.

this is the dress I got:  http://www.allurebridals.com/Store_ProductDetail.aspx?pid=I117g4264910D12e0h5F

Not sure if that helps any... but good luck in your decision ;)

You have to go with what you love!!!  I always imagined myself in a "princessy" gown and that's exactly what I got.   It's not extremely heavy but I will probably be a little warm (thankfully we're getting married in November so hopefully not too bad!)..I just couldn't imagine myself in another dress.  Just because you doing a destination wedding doesn't mean you have to go with a destination gown :)

I think that is a BEAUTIFUL dress!

From what I heard, when you trash the dress you don't really actually trash it.  I don't know how that dress/material would react to water, but that would be the only thing.

I plan on doing a TTD session with my actual dress as well... although there may be a chance that something will happen to it, I think it's a slim chance... besides, I don't plan on wearing it again... and I have two daughters, but I don't really anticipate them ever wanting to wear it.  So I will enjoy it as much as I can on my wedding day and TTD session ;)  after that it will probably be in a box for pretty much ever....

Definitely go with what you love!!!

And as for the trash the dress session, I've done so many of them and the brides even wore the same dresses to their at home receptions and the dresses looked like new.  Just make sure to rinse it well in the shower with tap water and hang to dry (dry clean once you get home).

I say.... go with whatever you feel best in! It's your wedding day!

I always told myself that I wanted to be a princess! Just because I was having a destination wedding, didn't mean I would have to wear a destination wedding dress!

I am wearing a dress, just like I would be wearing if I were getting married in Canada... :)

Hope this helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
