My wedding date is May 18, 2013 and I have already secured my room block at Now Jade. My TA was able to block and honor prices based on 2012 group rates. This was a relief because I was also concerned about incurring escalated pricing once 2013 rates were published (which can be released as early as April or May of 2012).  I donâ€t know if policies vary from one resort to another or if you should consider changing your TA. But I know that I could have blocked rooms based on 2012 rates at any of the 4 resorts that I was initially considering and I started inquiring at the end of January 2012. However, these were all AM resorts, so maybe that has something to do with it.  Best of Luck, let me know if you have any other questions.

I have booked my wedding at Riu Ocho Rios for April 2013 and had no problem. You just have to have your TA call and they will negotiate a price for it.

I had the same problem with my first travel agent because she was booking flight WITH the hotel and flights for that far in advance are not available yet. You can always get room rates ahead of time though. I switched to Teresa at Wright Travel (the travel agency that runs this forum) and have had absolutely no issues doing things early. It definitely helps if your TA deals specifically with destination weddings.

I also have an April 2013 wedding and I looked at the prices for traveling in April 2012 to get an idea of what it will cost. My TA is booking everything through FunJet (flight & hotel) and we will be able to get discounts and promos with their group travel program. So with that, no, we can't book the entire package yet because flights are not out until this summer. I am still not sure how many people we will have coming with us, so I didn't want to block too many rooms. I am thinking it will be around 20 people (10 rooms). I may have gone another route and blocked the rooms in advance if I was having a larger wedding.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
