Hi All, ,

I am new to BDW and am looking for someone who may have either wed at the Grand Solmar or is planning on doing so. I am getting married there in November of this year and am so excited. The resort is new and from everything I have seen and read, it is a amazingly beautiful resort with a great wedding location. I am really interested in someones personal experience planning w/ the coordinator and the ceremony. If you have any pics taken from your visit PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE share.

Hey Lexa399 - I am getting married at the Grand Solmar in June! I stayed at the resort for a week in August to check everything out.... and it is AMAZING!!! We looked at a couple other resorts and nothing compared! You are going to LOVE it!!! There is construction like the reviews mention, but the resort does a great job of minimizing the noise. And the construction is on the opposite side of the resort from the wedding gazebo, so it won't be anywhere near the ceremony. The wedding coordinator is fantastic, she is super responsive and on top of everything. I'll be happy to send you pics after our trip. CONGRATS!!!

Thanks, you too! Are you planning on having a sunset wedding? I was told that they are absolutely beautiful but I am concerned due to the lack of lighting for the reception. From all the pics I have seen it looks as though lighting in the gazebo area is practically non existent. Will you be using the photographer supplied through the resort or outsourcing?

Hi Lex,

Good call on the Grand Solmar! It's beautiful there! I've never had the chance to shoot there, but did consider getting a timeshare there...

In my experience, a good quality wedding photographer will have the equipment needed to provide light for such a situation. However, increasingly few on the market meet that standard... While I don't know any of the Gand Solmar's photographers, the general results that I've seen from resort photographers in the area are mediocre, and their equipment minimal.

I suggest learning from the shortcomings that you see in other people's photos. Look for a destination wedding photographer, and make sure they are aware of the low light situation and make sure they have what they need to compensate. Outsourcing the photog may cost you a little more, but you really don't want to cut corners on your memories...

Good luck!

Chris

Hi Lexa,

I am getting married at Grand Solmar in July 2013. I would love to hear what your experience has been to date with the wedding coordinator. I have had some frustrating moments so far in dealing with them. I'm thinking about hiring a separate wedding coordinator but not sure if it's worth it yet. Are you adding extra lighting for the reception? We are having a sunset wedding as well. Anything else you would recommend?

Thanks!!

Denise

Hello ladies!

Newbie here. Was just wondering how your experience was working with Grand Solmar Land's End. I'm looking at having my wedding there in Spring 2015, but haven't been able to find anyone who has been married there. We have stayed at Playa Grande before and like the location, so Grand Solmar seems like a good option for us. We are hoping for some feedback from people who have gotten married there.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
