Thank you so much for sharing! I am also starting to plan a St. Thomas wedding. How did you decide on Lindquist Beach vs. Limetree? Also, what was the resort that you went to following the wedding? Did you use a wedding coordinator? Ok, enough questions. Sorry : )

Loved the shoes - you definitely can't top those!

You did such a great job on everything! I've tried to make the stirrers and they aren't coming out right! Do you happen to have a template? I first tried it with address labels but no luck. I've tried with the avery 5163 shipping labels I just don't know how to get it on there the correct way! I"m getting frustrated!

@arch713 Hi!  I debated between Limetree and Lindquist beach myself.  I went with Lindquist because everywhere I read they raved about Lindquist having the most stunning water.  I also wanted a more secluded spot and Janelle from Island Bliss was my wedding coordinator and she suggested it for me.  And boy was I not disappointed, the beach was amazing, the pictures do not do the color of the water any justice.  The resort we had our lunch at was Sunset Grille and they were also amazing.  We had all of one side to ourselves, and they let us play music off our ipod too.  The event coordinator (at Sunset Grille) let me ship all of my decorating supplies (menus, escort cards, decorations, linens, lollipops, drink stirrers etc.) to them and they set everything up for me.  I wanted to make everything myself and also to save money and she did an amazing job on making sure everything was set up exactly how I wanted.  They also had great food, and the prices were extremely reasonable. Our cake was included in the wedding package and the restaurant also let me have the cake delivered to them instead of eating it on the beach :)  The resort is right on the beach, so there were plenty of places for us to take pictures as well.  And you can go for a swim :)

Let me know if you have any other questions, I am happy to help!

@shannonmarie, trust me I know the feeling :)  It took me forever to make the template in microsoft publisher and I probably ruined at least a tree trying to make sure the labels matched up perfectly!  I found it best worked with the full sheets (8.5x11") of address labels, this allows you to fold and cut where you want, but still has the sticky backside.  It takes a bit of patience to fold the label over and not ruin it.  I found that it worked best if I matched up the middle of the label with the straw first, and then carefully worked from the straw out towards the end of the label to fold it.  After the initial fold over- I then laid it flat on a table and rolled the straw towards the end of the address label (not too far over just maybe one turn of the straw) to help it stick better and give it a good crease, this also makes it look more like a flag.  If you roll it too far your flag ends being a bell shape and curved instead of standing straight out to the side...  After I had it folded over, I then made the triangle cut on the flag and trimmed the top and bottom where I was unable to fold it exactly right and hide my mistakes :)

If you have trouble with the template let me know.  I tried to maximize my space on each page, so not all the labels are in the same direction on the template.

Good luck!

Here is what I accomplished this past week:

Our ceremony program fans

Ceremony Program Fan Final.jpg

My hands do sure hurt after cutting out all of these petals, but it was totally worth it.  I found some great white shimmer cardstock at Michaels craft store (and of course used a coupon) and used the shimmer cardstock for all the white petals and for my menu's (see below).  Unfortunately the picture really doesn't do it justice, the shimmer makes a huge difference and is really easy to print on.  I had a template from another BDW bride and changed the colors and style to fit our theme.

Our reception will be at a nice beach resort just a few miles from Lindquist Beach.  We are having a buffet lunch, just because I couldn't decided what to eat :)  We wanted a very relaxing and laid back lunch.  Here is the picture of our reception area at Sunset Grille

Menu's

Lunch Menu angle.jpg

I used Microsoft Publisher to create the menu's and printed them on the same white shimmer cardstock as above.  I bought the Martha Stewart sand dollar punches and used that at the top of each menu so the underlying cardstock would show through.  I then couldn't decide whether to mount them on the turquoise or sea foam green cardstock because the seahorse background is a really nice light green and matched the green cardstock perfectly, but all of my other projects I had used the turquoise cardstock....So I decided to do half green and half blue and will have them alternate colors around the table.

I couldn't resist making these really cute cocktail stirrers.

I used some of our existing logos that I had made and used that for one side of the stirrer.  I created these again using Microsoft publisher.  I printed them on full sheets (8.5x11") of shipping labels, this made it so I didn't have to use glue :)  I just wrapped them around the stirrers and then just cut out the triangle to make them look like flags.  Here is how I picture them on the table

Now of course I had a lot of extra paper and scraps that I didn't use for projects so I used my Martha Steward punches and made confetti for the ceremony and to decorate the tables during lunch.

I'll be working on OOT bag items and sand dollar escort cards later today, so I will be sure to share them with everyone!

Thank you so much! I ended up figuring it out and I'm so excited to be able to work on something! I have absolutely NO clue how many guest we'll be having so there's not many things I can do. But I can do this one b/c no matter how many people I have, I'll need a ton of these!

Thanks again!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
