DIY STD'S & Invitations VS. Professional Printing Costs

Recommended Posts

I decided to DIY my invites just because I couldn't find anything I was crazy about anywhere else.  I'm picky I guess.  I had an idea for STDs early on, so did those myself, but invitations made me feel like a lost puppy.  I love letterpress but that is NOT in the budget.  So I ended up driving myself crazy shopping around for papers, etc, and will do them myself.  they're going to come out to about $4 each, not nearly as inexpensive as I had hoped, but they're going to be exactly what I want.  Oh and printing is nearly half that cost.  Crazy!

Guys I am about to freak out.  I was planning to have my invites formatted/printed at the art store, but the crane that is slumped over from hurricane sandy has my art store closed indefinitely, and I'm geared up to get this done now.  I know there are other print shops in the city, but they are either INSANELY expensive or won't print on the embossed paper I bought.  So I decided to try to do it myself.  Came to the office, formatted everything, and my printer DOESN'T GET that I'm using smaller paper.  I've tried setting my margins to adjust for my paper size AND putting in the custom paper size when I go to print.

I've googled around a bit, and it sounds like it's something about the printer driver, but I KNOW it can be done because one time, I got it to print in about the right area, but the next time it went right back to pretending I'm printing on 8.5x11 paper.  I know I probably sound like a crazy person and am not explaining it well, but has anyone had this issue?  What do I do???  I can't install any printer drivers on my work printer/computer.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
