Brandi- what type of gifts are you giving out? Brownsugar- yes I am going to have a welcome dinner probably one or two nights before the wedding . If you just have your welcome dinner in the buffet area there is no charge. I planned on doing welcome bags and have them in the rooms for when the guests arrive so maybe ill just have a little separate bag for the bridal party with a little note and obviously they'll know that's their gift lol What type of gifts is everyone planning? I think I'm going to do flasks and personalized bottle openers for the guys. I found really cute ones on etsy. And for the girls some type of jewelry maybe infinity necklaces and also little flasks I found on etsy that say bridesmaid little helper lol

Point of clarification-When you say Welcome Dinner in the buffet area, are you suggesting to have everyone enter together so that you can kind if take over one section of the restaurant? As far as gifts, I'm getting the girls a nice makeup/toiletry bag, robes someone recommended on Etsy and a small jewelry piece. FI is handling the gifts for the guys.

I was feeling the same way and have been trying to contact someone at their wedding email. I finally contacted them through their Facebook and mentioned how hard it's been to get any responses and they messaged me back saying they'll have the Pilar contact me soon.

And Pilar JUST contacted me a couple hours ago!! Woo hoo finally. So it's been a month that I've been trying to reach her, but don't give up hope! She'll get back to you soon :)

For the groomsmen gift, FI is giving out Oakley sunglasses (since he is a firefighter, he is able to get some sort of a discount, making them only like $40).  For the bridesmaid gifts, they are getting flip flops that match their dresses, wrap dress cover ups for bathing suits, their earrings, bracelets, and a jewelry roll travel carrier thing.

We are also doing welcome bags, but are probably going to hand them out during our cocktail party.  The resort wants to charge us to put the bags in their rooms and I've read a few reviews that bags got mixed up and not delivered until the next day and stuff.  Also, since we have the arrival times of our guests, we may just hand them out when they are checking in.

The cocktail party is just something we are putting together ourselves.  I have everyone meeting there (well, whoever wants to) at 8:30 just to get everyone together.  We will have chips and salsa and stuff, but they can order whatever they want from the bar.  Our guests are putting out a lot of money to come to our wedding, and the last thing I wanted to do was tell them when, where and what they had to be and eat.  That's all.  Just low key.  There is no price per head.  It is basically just an organized gathering.

Pilar told me they can rope off a section of the buffet restaurant so it's a bit more private free of charge so that's what we'll be doing one or two nights before the wedding.

Are you getting the girls gifts from etsy? If so, can you tell me the shop name.. I want to do flip flops and possibly robes too. I also heard about the charge for the bag delivery and possibly getting mixed up which is concerning. How do you know everyone's flight information? Did u ask for it on your RSVP card? Since I'm sure some guests will book last minute I hope this won't be confusing

With our travel agent, in order to get the low pricing, rooms needed to be paid in full by August 7th.  Everyone has done this.  Also, just about everyone has their airfare.  But, our package through our travel agent includes round trip transfers (from the airport and back to the airport) and they need to know everyone's travel info by September 2, to guarantee transfers.  So, my travel agent has all of their flight info and has passed it on to me!

As for the gifts, I am making the flip flops myself because it is much more cost effective.  For the jewelry, I went to Charming Charlie for the bracelets, and got the earrings from the Avon catalog.  The "beach" dresses I ordered from Amazon.  They are pretty neat.  And the jewelry rolls, I ordered from The Knot yesterday.  They were having a free shipping on any purchase promo, plus an extra 25% off clearance.  They were dirt cheap and really nice looking.

Okay, that makes a lot of sense.  I've been feeling a bit guilty about having the rehearsal dinner on resort (completely silly, I know!!!) as I wanted to do something extra special for the guests flying all the way down to Mexico.  I am doing an off-resort wedding though, so maybe that will have to suffice!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
