, all of my extended family thinks they're going to wait until 2 wks out and try and book last-minute. We are struggling with that, because we want to implement a hard deadline much earlier than that- I have already started buying stuff, and would like to do as much as I can in advance, so the stragglers are frustrating. That's a whole other post, don't get me started!
When we originally sent out the STD (Facebook and email), we got a lot of positive response- we did this in January, and when deposits were due in April, and push came to shove, hardly anyone jumped on board. Which is fine w/ me, I would rather have it be more intimate...
We did have the same problem at first.. We were lucky that at least half if not more of the people booked through our TA. We did also set a deadline which was October 15 - about 3 months from our wedding. We just told the guests that we had to give a final headcount to the resort. Luckily most of our guests have booked at this point. We still have 1-2 parties to follow up with but for the most part eveyone was pretty understanding, I think there will be some people that decided to jump on it last minute but for the most part we have let people know that this is not acceptable as we have lots of plannng. I think as long as you make that part pretty clear to your guests will not want to inconvenience you or your FI. I will hopefully have all of the answers and RSVP's by the end of the week. Best of luck!
