Warning...please read!!

We got married in April 2015 at Now Jade Riviera. Everything was fantastic and all our guests had a great time.

In the last two weeks we started to get calls from our banks notifying us of suspicious activity on our debit cards Nd withdrawals and online purchases over $1000 of dollars in our credit cards. My parents as well who had used a couple different credit cards (to pay for the wedding down there) also had the same thing. This was strange since we all bank separately. At this point in two weeks it has been 6 different credit cards and 5 debit card accounts that had been blocked for suspicious activity and unauthorized withdrawals. We didn't suspect the resort at all until some of our friends and family brought it up that in the last week a total of 8 other couples have had the exact same thing happen. The banks have been great with notifying us right away and blocking out cards but not until a money had already been taken out. One of our bank cards that we never ever ever use at bank machines or to make purchases Was blocked and the only time we have ever used it was at the little atm outside of the gift shop at the resort. It is the only atm machine that the resort has. We have spoke with out banks and they have pretty much said that they are positive that our credit cards and bank debit cards were being skimmed from the machine at the resort. It is way to much of a coincidence to have that many people at the same time from different banks having their accounts compromised. We have reported it.

So not bashing the resort but just a warning to bring cash... Do not use the bank machine at the resort and please let your guests know. And if you have recently been married there and you know you used the machines then call your banks and get your pin# changed.

Wow!! I can't believe that happened to so many of your guests! When I was there in June, the ATM wouldn't even work for almost any of our guests - it would just say the transaction couldn't be completed. I had to borrow some cash from my parents since I couldn't get any out, so bring more than you think you'll need!

Also, you can get pesos at the front desk and have the amount charged to your room,  which could come in handy for shopping, cab fare, etc., especially if you want to save your US dollars.

PAST BRIDES!!!!

I don't know if its just me or my wedding planner but this has got to be the most frustrating experience of my life!!! Where are all these added costs coming from!! UGH!

My biggest problem I am having is that I am getting the Devine wedding package. The cake options that they offer is not the actual cake you get?? The package is for up to 25 people and I have 45 people coming. They told me that the cake i get is only ONE TIER?? Not what is actually shown.... if I want to pay for the extra 20 people then I would get a cake with two tiers but still not the cake shown.... Is this right? Or are they just being difficult with me?!

Hello!

Your post has helped me alot so thank you for that! Do you know if I choose to do the $500 private reservation at a restaurant  and my guest has the all inclusive deal will they be able to use that to eat dinner? Also for the $1200 reception that just takes care of food right?

Hi JaNae, I am also getting married at Now Jade, I was interested in doing a rehearsal dinner the night before my wedding and here's what I got from Jacqueline:

The Maximum number of people for a specialty restaurant (non private service) is 35 Guest. Being this or less number of people, you have to pay  a fee of $ 22 Usd + Tax + service. You have to select a set menu from the same restaurant.

We reserve some tables and in the rest of the place there will be more people.

Second Option.- According to the number of people you are planning to have, we suggest to make your rehearsal dinner totally private.

We can offer you on this day, Cin Cin restaurant with a rental fee of $ 3,000 Usd + $ 22 Usd + Tax + Service per person.

This service is for 4 hours and includes domestic open bar and a set menu (plated service) from the same restaurant.

In case you are interested, please let me know to hold the area. These locations are confirmed when you reserve as definitive, in the meantime, they are subject to availability.

We have available Carnival Terrace  on May the 05th. The rent fee for Terrace restaurant is $  500 Usd + Tax. +/plus The dinner per person with an extra charge of $ 42 Usd + Tax + Service. This is plated service and includes open bar for 3 hours.

She also sent me prices and capacity for the other restaurants, there are some spaces you can hold for 40 guests that only cost $1500 plus the $22 per person. Also, the per person charges have 16% tax and I think 18% service fee on top of that.

Hope that information helps! We just decided to keep the rehearsal dinner informal. Luckily its on Cinco de Mayo and they have a BBQ on the beach, so hopefully we can get tables close to each other.

Wedding was a success!!!! It was a beautiful day and was over in the blink of an eye!!! While there were a few bumps along the way, I wouldn't have it any other way. This resort is beautiful! Even with all the construction going on. Sadly I did not get to have my ceremony on the beach, and it was frustrating. The weather was rain rain rain the first 4 days we were there. The day of the wedding was the first day of sun. But apparently the tide was too high and the ground was too soft to have the wedding on the beach. They moved me inside to the "its raining" venue LOL. It was still beautiful, but disappointed that we couldnt have it on the beach.

My wedding coordinator was Pamela and if im honest i really did not like her services. She was not helpful! EVER!!! she was negative with all things and made the whole wedding planning experience a complete nightmare. I can not explain how stressed out i was the 2 months leading up to our wedding day. Even when we got there everything was no we cant do that, no we cant do this, no i wont budge here, no i wont help you there.....The day of the wedding she was rude when it came to having to move the venue and when it came to making the payment for the wedding she had a lot of attitude towards my mom when she asked about conversions. "That's not my job to figure out- you should have had all that sorted out" excuse me?!

besides that the day was amazing!!!

I know this post is late - so hopefully it is still helpful to you or someone else.  For some reason I had the biggest problem with communication about the cake as well!  I would generally say the communication with the planners over email was always hard.  Maybe a language barrier issue?  But once I got down there everything turned out fine.  I had the divine package and 36 guests.  I chose not to pay for extra guests for cake slices since the dinner came with dessert as well.  We had plenty of cake and the cake was still multiple tiers and was very nice!  See pictures below.  My MIL made the flower toppings that are on the cake.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
