OFFICIAL NOW Jade Wedding Thread

Recommended Posts

My wedding is on 26th May 15 so still lots of time to decide. I'm working on a few quotes from an outside photographer so will see how it goes, so expensive!! I'm getting lots if answers here but it creates more questions!! Ha ha ha Dress picking is the next thing on the agenda!

We are using Moments that Matter. I think he was pretty reasonable and his works looks amazing. I had to beg my fiancé to agree I let us hire someone outside. But I know we won't regret it!

What do past brides suggest for menu selections? I won't have time to do a tasting before the wedding so I'm hoping to get some suggestions from you ladies!

I have the divine package.

I was wondering about this as well. Most the options look like things I would not normally eat!

OMG! I just sent in the final documents today! We are 50 days away today and I agonized the most over the menu. I was only going to have 1 menu choice for everyone and then it dawned on me.....geez, people may have a seafood allergy or hate it. Since we are paying a premium for the menus I want to make sure everyone has a great meal they will like.

When all was said and done I have a Seafood and Non Seafood menu.

Seafood:

1st course- Mixed Salad from the Vegetarian menu

2nd Course- Lobster Bisque From Devine

Main- Beef Filet with Shrimp in a red wine sauce and mashed potatos - Devine

Dessert- Chocolate Souflette in a baileys sauce

Non Seafood

Course 1 the same as above

2nd- Spinach Ravioli in a Basil Cream Sauce

3rd- Beef Filet same as above without Shrimp

Dessert- Same as above.

I tried to keep them as streamlined as possible because the more complicated the longer dinner service will be cutting into the party party!

I really hope everyone enjoys dinner, I love wine and food and the whole reason we chose this resort was for the private dinner option with great menus.

Thanks for the recommendations for the photography, these are a couple of companies I havent looked at so I will check them out.  We dont do "Trash the Dress" in Scotland, I dont think I have the heart to trash my dress, think I'll get it cleaned and give it to charity!  I can always make use of the resort photographer some other way.

Oh Im looking for all the menus including veg & gluten free, would someone mind passing them on?  I was under the impression that we could only choose one starter etc?

Can anyone help with this one, does anyone know for sure if the flowers on the pergola included with the Devine Package?  Ive read a few places that they are then they arent, can anyone clarify?

Thanks again!

Leigh

Hi Brides!

I know this topic has probably been beat to death, but is there anyone who's used the resort photographers semi-recently and can share photos?  I'm having a hard time justifying an additional $2000-$3000 for an outside photographer when one comes with the Divine package.

Also, does anyone know how many hours of photography the Divine package entails?  I know on the sheet it says "Photo Package (24 full color photographs) and Wedding Album ( only ceremony)"--does that really mean they only take pictures before the ceremony/immediately after (no reception or getting ready?) Sorry if I'm being obtuse, I'm just hoping I'm reading it wrong!

I'm under the impression that the included package only includes the ceremony and pictures on the beach afterwards. Approx. 1 hour and only 24 photos.

I also have the Divine package and do not think this is enough. I can't justify spending $3000 for an outside photographer either so I have added on the Number 2 package (3 hours of photography) for about $1000 to my package, this will include getting ready, ceremony, pictures on beach, and cocktail hour. Then I'm using my included package in the divine for a trash the dress session.

@@leggi, the trash the dress thing was new to me too, but it seemed like such a unique experience to add since we were getting married in mexico.  anyways - not trying to convince you to do it, but just wanted to let you know that from what I've read it really doesn't trash the dress.  Alot of people say it actually cleans it because it gets dirty from walking around and dancing during the reception.  they say if you hang it to dry afterwards and then get it professional cleaned the dress is fine.  my mom was initially freaked out i was going to do it, but when she read that she was more ok with it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
