Yes they stayed the whole cocktail hour and for the beginning of our reception. She got our dances and the speeches. I had traded in the photographer for extra time with the videographer since I brought my own photographer. She actually started packing up after the cocktail hour and I had to stop her and let her know I had an extra hour with her! Thank God I caught her leaving! But the whole video turned out nice and it is something nice to show others who were not able to make it.

I spent most of last night reading through this thread. I am just so happy to have found BDW.com!! This will surely keep me from stressing out relief.gif

I am a newbie to this site, so forgive me if this was answered already.

Is there anyone out there that has already stayed at Now Jade that could recommend their favorite reception spot? Anyone have or seen one that they didn't like? I am so torn and having not been to the resort yet, I am really left to imagine based on professional pictures. I know they are usually at the best angle to showcase the high points, but the reality is sometimes not as great. Originally, I thought I would love it to be outside. I am hearing comments about the beach having bugs and being too windy. Has anyone seen or had a reception on the pool deck (not even sure if that is an option, as all I see is the "beach"... I assume that is literally in the sand)?

Also, any feedback on opting for a DJ vs just taking the party to the club or bar in the resort? I am estimating to have about 32-40 people. Most of them are a lively bunch, but I don't know if it ends up awkward w such a small group compared to a standard wedding in the states with hundreds. You know... where barely anyone is dancing. Does the DJ do a good job getting the excitement going or would I be just as happy with my iPod and their sound system.

Thanks everyone in advance!!

My head is spinning with all the options wacko.gif

You will not be disappointed!  I just returned from the Now Jade June 21-28.  We were married the 23rd at the pergola, cocktail hour at the Mix Bar and reception in the Bamboo Room.  Everything surpassed my expectations.  The ladies in the wedding department sure know what they are doing!  :)  Best wishes!  Don't stress.

Do you want to have your reception indoors or out? I didn't see any spots that I think were bad so it just depends on if you want an indoor or outdoor reception.

I only had 15 people with us and we had the DJ for 2 hours...I was afraid it would be weird but it actually wasn't. I didn't want to worry about taking care of the ipod but if you can get a DJ without having to pay for it ( I got our 2 hours for free because I didn't use the photographer in the package) I would say go for the DJ.

I had never been to the resort prior to our wedding so I wasn't pretty nervous too! You won't be disappointed with your decision! :)

Thank you so much for the reply! I really appreciate it! :-) Ultimately, I really would like the reception to be outside. I just don't think I want it directly on the beach. I know Dreams has the option of having your reception on the "pool deck", but I haven't come across this option w Now. I've noticed people saying the terrace gets pretty warm, so I was thinking out in the open would ideal. I wonder if they do receptions set up pool side? I'm a bit more confident w the DJ idea thanks to your recommendation. I think I will go for it! Maybe I can finagle a "free" DJ too, as I will be flying out our photographer also. Great suggestion, thank you! I'm so excited, I just can't stand it! 9 1/2 months to go... WooHoo ;-)

Hello kkutnyak,

I had mine in the bamboo room with 45 guests and I loved it!

We also had the dj for our reception and I would highly recommend it. Everyone had a blast dancing and the dj was excellent!

I was originally supposed to have my reception on the terrace but due to possible rain it got switched to Castaways restaurant. I would have preferred the terrace but castaways wasn't bad. I think anything outside will be warm but you are by the beach so there will almost always be a breeze. I think you might be able to have something set up by the pool so I would ask Pilar. I know that when we were there I saw something set up by the pool and it looked pretty cool. If you can't do the pool then I would suggest the terrace!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
