Hi Ladies, Does anyone know if the rooms have a DVD player? My girls are sleeping in my room the night before the wedding and we're dying to watch Bridesmaids :) Thanks! Kristen

Hey guys!  I have a few questions that I am hoping you might be able to answer for me.  We are getting married at 6:00 at the Pergola in October which is what I believe is sunset.  Is there any lighting out there for us?  Also, If you only choose the 2 hours for the DJ during the reception, who do you use to announce your entrance and stuff?  I believe I read on here once that even though it was only paid for 2 hours, the DJ ended up being there for all 3 hours.  When are you doing/did you do the champagne toast?  And finally, if I opt for no more appetizers for the extra guests during cocktail hour, do I still get stuck paying for cocktails or no? Thanks!
Hey Brandi, We are also trying to figure out the DJ situation....we don't have him coming til after the first hour so we have nobody to announce. We really don't want to ask one of our guests to do it, but I don't know what other options there'd be? We haven't even looked at the champagne toast. Omgod we have so much to do in only 13 days!!!!!!

Hi All

We just got back from our amazing wedding and honeymoon.  We were at Now Jade with 50 for our wedding, then a week at Secrets Silversands for our honeymoon.

First things first - Pilar is amazing.  I didnt worry about the little details before we left, just sent her the planning book.  Once I sat down with her (2 days before the wedding), everything was worked out.  They have all the vendors at their fingertips, so it is very easy to plan it all and add any extras while you are there.  She is calm, kind and very, very organized.  She works like a slave from early in the morning to late at night making sure every detail of every couples day is taken care of.  Don't stress on the reply time, it will all be OK - I swear.

I was most worried about my hair and the photography (Adventure).  They were both amazing.  I have humidity sensitive hair and some how they gave me exactly the look I wanted (showed a pic) and it didnt move until I pried it apart.  It was stunning.  The photography was OUTSTANDING.  I was so worried when I opted not to pay the prices for an offsite photographer - but I was very pleasantly surprised.  Veronica stayed with us all day and night and took some of the most amazing photographs I have ever seen.  She is kind, passionate and very talented.

The food was very good.  We had smoked salmon, lobster bisque, filet and shrimp and creme brulee.  I have celiac - and they prepared all of my dishes properly without me asking - actually all of those with allergies were taken care of with the same care.  Our group was comprised of many foodies and they all felt the lobster bisque was one of the best they ever had.  We had the cheesecake (without crust) for the wedding cake - it was so good that after Jeff fed me some I went for seconds.

We had an MC (a groomsman) who helped the night flow flawlessly - even though we opted not to have a DJ.  We prepared playlists - and literally nobody sat down the entire time - just dancing and having a blast.

The one concern I had was about how the resort washes their glasses at the bars.  It is unsanitary, and I believe that those in our group who became ill did so because of that.  It is common in  Mexico that they use bins to wash bar side - but normally a scrub, a sanitizing and a rinse - here they just scrubbed.  Order the mugs or cups and use them.  This is my only advice to avoid.

The hardest part of the week was A. Making sure everyone had the room they wanted and B. Making sure we spent enough time with each group of guests.  This was a little challenging, but made the honeymoon that much better!

Enjoy.  It was everything I ever dreamed about and more!!

Absolutely Gorgeous! your dress is stunning and the colours are amazing!  We are having the moments package and tailor making it to how we want it and to our budget and we decided to go with the resort photographer (adventure) so really pleased your feedback was positive and your pictures look beautiful.

we always take our own glasses wherever we travel so will be definetly packing them in the suitcases this year.

I am pretty much the same as you and not worrying about the little things, I am just going to get there and give Pilar my ideas, thoughts and leave it all in her capable hands.

They did not have one in the room, not sure if you could rent one somewhere from the resort or maybe bring a cord and play one from a laptop attached to the tv?

Not sure about the lighting.. We are doing our champagne toast immediately after the ceremony. As for the DJ, we are opting to trade our live music including in our package for 2 hours of DJ time and we will be paying $350 per hour to have the DJ for the whole 4 hour reception 7pm-11pm (we are paying $15 per person to extend an hour). I have also read reviews that the DJ ended up staying the whole time even though it wasn't paid for but I definitely wouldn't go in expecting it. Who knows, with all the inconsistencies, it could happen but I def don't want to take that chance.

Wanted to share this with any new brides in the beginning of the planning process. I would have loved to get a return address stamp or monogrammed stamp for our Save the Dates, Invitations, and other mailings we sent out. Still may order a return address one with my new name :)

I just posted my review... You should be able to find it her...  http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/now-jade-riviera-cancun/reviews/7230

Let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks for the review and congratulations!

I read it last night and had wedding nightmares overnight. I wonder if there's any way to flag this glass-cleaning situation to the resort? This isn't the first time I've heard about it being a problem, people have also posted on trip advisor about this problem.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
